I wrote a book on how hot all the Summoned are. Viktor has it. I'm fairly certain for all the non-humans they are hot based on their own species so they're just continuing the hotness.

I have noticed that a lot of people are from a specific 'earth,' even if it's a different time period in that 'earth.'

But seriously, I'm not sure if it so much chooses a specific person as just...casts out a net and who gets grabbed gets grabbed. I know Thorne ends up with people they'd rather not - or used to, they'd lock them up. I know the locking up doesn't happen anymore, but I'd bet they're still just sort of getting whoever. And it's probably the same for the Free Cities and Solvunn.

I like to think of it in a simple manner. It is those who are extraordinary or those with the potential of it. Even surviving something extraordinary -- whether good or bad -- should suffice, I think.

Or Destiny, if you believe in that sort of thing.

However, it remains to be seen what, of each of us, is extraordinary. Writing, for example, may be the skill I was chosen for. It is not yours. There's simply... too many numbers involved. However, perhaps you can break boulders with your bare hands or deprive a man of his last coin with a few chosen words. The limits are, in a sense, limitless.
