Well, that wasn’t a boring weekend, not that one.

It was wonderful to meet some of you in person - and enormously encouraging to meet so many new faces. I hope the masquerade entertained you all. But, on the other hand, wasn’t there something peculiar about it? Does anybody else feel led up the garden path? I fear this is me being paranoid but…

I think the Fey mean to return to this world. I know I would be delighted to get back home and, I might add, so would many of you. It’s only natural we miss our loved ones. “My heart to joy at the same tone. And all I loved, I loved alone.”

Now, I suggest we discuss our impressions of our hosts this week and what we managed to glean by means of information. The most pressing and urgent problem I think, without doubt, is their intentions. Perhaps we should discuss our experiences and share what we learned. It could prove useful. Our small community cannot afford to misplace its trust, and I advise we exercise critical thinking at this juncture.

Now that things are settled down again, as much as they ever are, I've finally been able to finish a little project I started a while ago. Remember months ago I asked for volunteers to test cannabis based pain killers and sleep tonics?

Well, due to my funding contract with the Academy, I can't sell any of those. I'm sure they will be sold, just not by me since the Academy basically owns the rights to them. But I *can* sell the raw ingredients.

Or at least the one everyone is most interested in. The cannabis. So starting this week, you can buy 'herbal relaxation mixes' at Salves & Stitches. In small, medium, and large packages. For Solvunn and Thorne, it'll still be via the Nocwich connection for obvious reasons. Just send me a note so I can meet you in the square.

Just a warning, at the moment supplies are pretty limited so it's first come, first serve. I'm still not set up for growing a large amount consistently, but hopefully I'll have more growing space soon.

Oh and if you're a teenager...either tell me you need it for a medical reason or get someone else to buy it for you. Or just come in when Julie's there. I don't care if you want to do drugs, I just don't want to be the person who directly sells them to you.

Aurelius once wrote, "If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment."

My fundamental concern about this wisdom is that it fails to spot the physical root of trauma. People who cannot snap out of their distress also deserve compassion and treatment.

My apologies for the intrusion. Locals informed me about the recent chaos and I found myself concerned and a little hesitant about reaching out. Back home I treat those who approach me for support with their mental health. I had excellent resources there but here I can offer nothing but a listening ear.

I understand some of you might be feeling exposed, stressed and intimidated. To you I offer my own wisdom. If you worry about what lies ahead, you will be the only one who suffers in the end.

Oh. Reading, isn’t it? This system is entirely new to me. What a brave new world this place is.

It’s time we address the behemoth released from the shrines.

For those who weren’t in the pit, we shared the cavern with 4 occult shrines that produced a steady flow of blood. When the exterior of each was removed, a second was beneath - an armored figure with a spiked halo knelt in prayer, bleeding from empty eye sockets. Save for one other - a standing, armored skeleton-like humanoid carrying the upper half of an iron maiden, and wielding a spiked ball at the end of what appeared to be a chain of its own small intestines.

When the last of these shrines were opened, pillars of writhing flesh struck through the pit’s ceiling. Later, it was apparent these were the monster’s legs, and some were crushed underfoot when it began to retreat from its cage.

Proximity to the shrines caused a flood of sinister whispering and visions of a shadowed figure, and those of us succumbed to the ritual’s effects felt a certain draw to them. It’s unclear if the acolytes were hoping we’d interact with these shrines, as they never intervened, but the monster’s escape caused the eventual collapse of the pit and did them no favors.

Did anyone in the rescue team see where it went, after it broke off from the cavern? Best we learn what this creature is and what it’s capable of before we encounter it again.
