[ Much like the last time, the message arrives to the Summoned in two distinct styles of handwriting, indicating that Alucard and Thancred are coordinating the transmission of this important missive in tandem. ]
The last time Thancred and I sent out a communication in this manner, it brushed against the topic of the attack that the Summoned faced in Nocwich back when we were first invited and questions regarding both Elizabeth and Oliver, who the most senior of the Summoned will recall as the two responsible for freeing us from Thorne. We are writing with an update on the latter topic, as it impacts us both now and likely in the near future.
As those of you currently in the Feywilds already know, and others may have heard, there is one person who remains here with us: Elizabeth. Up until this point, there had been no sign of her. We suspect that she was here the last time the Summoned were invited to the Feywilds, but opted not to show herself to us. In any case, she was willing to answer some of our questions.
To begin with, we directly inquired as to why she and Oliver decided to step in with the first two groups of Summoned. Oliver had concerns about Thorne’s growing power endangering the Singularity. Elizabeth also had ethical concerns regarding our detention. The hope was that both Solvunn and the Free Cities would respond to this overstep of power by Thorne and put their efforts into counterbalancing it and stopping the ritual from being done a third time. As we all know, they decided to do their own summonings instead.
Elizabeth claims that she has not seen Oliver in two years and that they went their separate ways at that time. Some of you may recall that is around the time that Josselyn’s cult made its move against us. It seems that Oliver was driven down a different path, as he felt he was somehow chosen given his heritage. Simply put, he believes himself to be a descendent of one of the gods, given he learned of his ability to cross the Singularity’s threshold, as we can. We therefore suspect that if this is true, he would be the descendent of one of the New Gods — a former Summoned.
As an aside, apparently the Summoned who make up the group of New Gods are capable of having children with natives of Abraxas, and this allows them to have more interactions with the Singularity. More to the point, Elizabeth emphasized that there are more travelers from other worlds than Solvunn, Thorne, and the Free Cities want us to realize. Many of us might recall the traveling performers from some time ago - apparently they fall into that category.
In any case, Elizabeth did seem concerned about Oliver’s current status. There are rumors that he has been looking for a way to “ascend” — language that should be familiar to many of us. She suspects this is why there’s been no recent sign of him. He had once shared with her that he wanted to use his pedigree to find a way to remake the world, which certainly doesn’t sound good. I fear we may not have seen the last of him.
We’re sharing this now because this information supplements what we shared previously, adds some corrections when needed, and will doubtlessly impact our future. Given all of the activity with the Singularity, I think it is safe to assume that we may see Oliver again in some shape or form. If that’s the case, having basic background information will be helpful. I don’t know if this will have an element of outright conflict between his desires for the Singularity and ourselves or between him and the three major territories, but I think it may be wise to consider a few what-ifs.
(( ooc: In case it’s not clear, blue font is Alucard and black font is Thancred. Responses will come from one or both of them, and threadjacking is encouraged! ))
