The gods aren't technically from any one place as far as I know, it's more about where the stories about them, true or false, originated from. Which was Ancient Greece, at least in my world, and maybe in theirs.

Well the entrance to the Underworld is in Greece. And I believe Olympus is too, so...I suppose it makes sense. We're closer to those parts of the mortal world, so they're more likely to hear of us.

Exactly. So they are Greek gods in the sense that it's where they used to live and be active and so that's a natural reference. Also it's partly because there are other gods, as far as I know. In my world there are Egyptian gods and Roman gods and Norse gods, etc., so it's easier to name a place to connect them to.

I don't know much about other pantheons, but I know they exist. It never occurred to me that we might be named according to the mortals who have the closest connections with us.
