Depending upon where you have arrived, you can seek library based information on these older gods and the so-called cardinal gods which are newer, later additions to this world's understanding of deities and religion. Solvunn will have the most resources available to you, followed by Thorne, then the Free Cities. It seems as if several examples of the newer deities have popped up in discussion thus far.

These kinds of major events tend to have long term ramifications, and anything that can be headed off at the pass or at least prepared for is vital, and something taken very seriously.
