Several moons ago when we first headed into Nocwich, there was a fortune teller named Lady Elin. I'm sure many of us went to her tent to have our fortunes read. Perhaps you've forgotten what it was she said. I know divination is met with a lot of skepticism.

Would you be willing to share your fortune with me, if you remember it? I'd like to know if it relates to anything in your life, whether it be from your time before Abraxas or since being summoned.

[and because you cannot expect something without putting yourself on the line...]

She would say "I see" and "you hold a tie to". For me, it was 'many lost souls under the night sky' and 'old lands that find new roots'. It makes me think of my home country. Many hundreds of thousands died because of the war waged in it. The country no longer exists.

I don't want to bore you with more details, but that is my basic interpretation of it.

She said she saw an empty seat in a candle-lit room and that I held a tie to strong magicks and hidden pages. It's not something easy to forget, her energy was very intense.

I worked with magical tech back home and I've learned magic here, so that seemed like an obvious connection. And I kept my research hidden back home for a long time, so that would kind of reference my past, I just don't know what it means for my future.

Diviners are highly respected by my people. I have not forgotten Lady Elin's words to me.

She spoke of shuddering planks that hold fast and the deliverance of souls that cannot be quelled. It... feels strange to make assumptions about what I think she saw, the things she felt...

but what it calls to mind for me is the slaver ship, and my goals back home to save others from my fate.

[It is deeply personal, but, even if she hasn't shared a lot of the darker pieces of her past with the other woman, she trusts Wanda.]

You think her fortune was only that, relating to your life before Abraxas? Or have you noticed similarities to circumstances since you were summoned?

From what I understand, fortunes like this are hardly what they seem at first glance. That, or they're meant to be vague to allow you to read any meaning you'd like into them.

Do you find that the one you got is vague?

The second part could be promising? Putting roots down is never a bad thing.

I certainly don't see it as a bad thing, but maybe I just find it hard to believe that it could become a reality in the near future. Perhaps it is to say that my people are to put roots down in the other countries they've found asylum in.

I consider this to be superstition, regardless, but I would be interested in receiving...an updated reading. For the sake of comparison.

I wonder if we'll see Lady Elin again.

I do remember that. It stuck out because it was weird. The fortune, I mean.

Mine was something about dancing souls and roses...I wrote it down, let me find it.

Okay, here we go. Lost souls trapped in an eternal dance, a field of roses buried under thorns.

It...sort of relates to me in a way I understand? I mean I can MAKE it fit if I really go big on symbolism. But I've never really been solid on how prophecy and divination works.

I believe in them, though.

I'm not very versed in religious texts or anything, but would the last part be similar to the concept of 'hell'?
Do you feel that any of that represents something you've experienced at any point?

There are any number of things it could be tied to, here or back in my Sphere, so I hardly found it helpful.

The details, in terms of this, were not especially important. What I was told was something that related directly to past circumstances, and then something that sounded like knowledge of my current work and a vague implication of the future. Positive, in my case.

Are you noticing any patterns?

I'm not sure yet about patterns, but I have reason to believe some aspects of the divination can be made true. Whether it's an invisible string of fate pushing at us to go that way, or actions that we take and pursue—

It's just a working theory, but it's as vague as the arcana we've been designated with. Vague enough to fit who we are, but enough to likely not mean anything.

Not sure what to say about the divination though. Mine was "I see an unfinished figure in the darkness. You hold a tie to lifelines forged at great cost."

The second part makes sense, but it's also something that she could have guessed by simply looking at me and being proficient at detecting magic. No idea what she meant with the first part.

Honestly? Mine was kinda weird, I don't have much of a clue what it means:

'I see a sword dripping with ink. You hold a tie to the knowledge of the ages.'

I mean, I fucking love swords. I'm an excellent swordswoman. But the whole ink and knowledge thing is kinda lost on me. I've always done my best thinking with my biceps, you know?
