Several moons ago when we first headed into Nocwich, there was a fortune teller named Lady Elin. I'm sure many of us went to her tent to have our fortunes read. Perhaps you've forgotten what it was she said. I know divination is met with a lot of skepticism.

Would you be willing to share your fortune with me, if you remember it? I'd like to know if it relates to anything in your life, whether it be from your time before Abraxas or since being summoned.

[and because you cannot expect something without putting yourself on the line...]

She would say "I see" and "you hold a tie to". For me, it was 'many lost souls under the night sky' and 'old lands that find new roots'. It makes me think of my home country. Many hundreds of thousands died because of the war waged in it. The country no longer exists.

I don't want to bore you with more details, but that is my basic interpretation of it.

The part about "voices" sounds more like something we ran into though. Not me.

Yeah, sure thing.

They're these aliens called 'rachni'. Kind of like big ancient insects with a queen and all that. They apparently communicate with 'songs', singing. My commander met the queen a couple times and she had a lot to say about the voices of her offspring, how they went unheard because of experiments they'd had performed on them.

She talked like that.

It has come to my attention that I'm not really familiar at all with what your world is like.

[more like she's just realized that he may be, perhaps, one of many individuals in the free cities she hasn't ran into.]

But I suppose that would make sense. About the voices.
Was that a very significant event for you?

Ah, sorry - I still forget about that sometimes. I'm no artist, or I'd try to draw one out.

[Why can't they have omni-tools. It would be so much easier to just send photos.]

I'd say it was, yeah. For the whole galaxy. Far as anyone knew, the rachni were extinct. The last surviving queen went off to revive her species. Peacefully.

That's a happy ending, at least.
I wonder if that fortune wasn't so much about any future situation you may find yourself in, but to what you've already lived through and experienced.

Putting it that way, I could see it.

Does that happen? Fortunes being details about the past?

[carmesi]

I'm not entirely an expert, but general readings usually express something that happened in the past, is currently happen, or might pass in the future.

At this point, with what everyone who has shared, it feels like it was a mix of all those things.
If you're willing to believe it, of course.

At this point, I've been through a fungus dungeon, learned I can suddenly do magic, and talk to people with my mind.

I'm willing to believe a lot of things.

Well, from my end I will say that you probably shouldn't worry about this. I will look into it myself, and unless there is something dire worth reporting, consider it not particularly important.
