Hey there, everyone. My name is Steve Rogers and I'm one of the people most recently summoned to the Free Cities. I'm also a good friend of Sam Wilson's — we've worked together for a number of years. I know he's made quite the name for himself here.

I've only been here for a little over a month, but in that time I've noticed a sudden increase in military activity within Cadens. There's increased drills and training exercises, equipment moving in and out, that kind of thing. I went by Fort Wilbridge and tried to ask some questions, but all they really had to say was that they were acting out of an abundance of caution. Almost like they're expecting something.

It seems suspicious, so I was wondering if anyone else has noticed a change in how the factions are behaving, whether it's something I haven't picked up on in Cadens or something going on in Thorne or Solvunn. I figure it might be a good idea to compare notes so we won't be completely blindsided if something else is coming our way.

That's all I've got for now, but it's nice to meet you all. In a manner of speaking, anyway.

[ there's a moment here where sam just sort of has to think. because he saw that message, he was actively reading it just like all the others, but there's something else. something in that pause between messages. something that has sam's gut on, whether or not he even really knows thor beyond the stories steve's told and the brief interactions they've had. ]

I AM GRATEFUL TO BE IN GOOD COMPANY, AT LEAST.

[ Truth be told, he feels somewhat guilty for thinking of it as a reprieve, even for the short time it could have been called that. Now that he's becoming more involved in the goings on of the world at large, at least he feels useful. ]

YOU ARE KIND, CAPTAIN. I WILL ENDEAVOR TO KEEP YOUR COUNCIL IN MIND.

[ They barely know each other, but Thor appreciates what Sam is trying to do all the more for that.

In a way it's surreal to hear all of the terrible, inevitable things his future holds. Perhaps once he would have shrugged it off, would have believed that there were things he could change, but after Ragnarok he understands — the future is immutable. If there is any way in which it isn't his fault, it is that nothing he can do will change it. ]

[ it's been...a long time since he's actually been referred to as captain. or, rather, the reference being with intent. he knows that wanda's the one who told him, knows that since thor is from before it's not like he'd heard about it back home, but still.

it's kind of nice, in it's own weird way. hearing it from someone who had worked so solidly alongside steve. someone who was an avenger, before sam even came into the picture. but that's a thought for another time. ]
