Just a thought, considering our recent guests - what's your opinion on vampires and werewolves? Do you have them where you come from or are they just in stories? Monsters? Misunderstood? Just another type of creature?

That's good. To be fair, I think most if not all of us have seen our fair share of things that a majority would consider frightening or strange. What is your take on vampires?

Fine fine. I'll have to see what actually good Eastern European goodies I can finagle, then.

True that. And my take on vampires? Never met one, at least that I know of, and I'd extend them the same courtesy I do everyone...get to know them on their own terms, rumours and legends or not.

I seriously wonder now if I've ever met werewolves or vampires at all myself, too. Are the legends true, about their weaknesses?

That'd be nice. Show me how it's really done. And...I would like to talk a little, too.

You might have, but didn't know it. And some of them are, some of them aren't. I know vampires are safe in the sun, for example. And silver doesn't kill werewolves.

I always wondered if anyone would give up those weaknesses so easily.
We really wouldn't know any better if we're surrounded by them, huh.

Honestly, any time. Besides work, I haven't got a lot going on.

Hah, most of them are just old tales, there's some truth and some untruth. I imagine the sunshine rumour happened because of vampires being mostly nocturnal, the silver bullet myth with werewolves because a bullet still hurts no matter what it's made of.

I suppose that makes sense. Stakes will kill anyone if it's through the heart, etc.

Yeah, I picked up work on some noble's hobby farm. It's what I know how to do and I need to make some money to take care of myself.

Yeah, exactly. What human wouldn't die if you put a wooden stake through their heart?

Everyone talks about actively getting a job.
In Solvunn we get paid for helping out, but we also get given a lot of things for free.
They have this weird notion of us being connected to their old gods.

We don't use the c-word, but it definitely feels like that.

It almost sounds like Solvunn might have been a better bet for me, if it's like my farm and everyone gets paid to work it. Sounds a bit like home.

Except I'm an atheist.

I don't think many of us here believe in any of this religious stuff they have going for them.
Besides, sometimes I wish we had a little bit more to do.
Thorne ought to be more exciting on the daily.

Truth be told, religion always freaked me out a little bit, so maybe it's for the best.

And compared to home, there's not a lot to do in Thorne either. Some decent pubs but I'm used to TV and video games.

I thought Thorne had a huge library with books on magic, or something.
An alternative for TV and video games?

Haha, just joking. I really should try to learn some magic.

You know, I bet you're one of the best out there, when it comes to magic. Have you been learning any from this place?

I've just had a bit more practice before this place.
And not particularly. It's hard to learn something new when I can mostly just do it myself.

And that's exactly what makes me think you're probably one of the best. Practice makes perfect and all.

I could never do magic back home. I know a couple people who could though. I always thought it was cool.

Any spells in specific you've always dreamed of doing?

There's always someone better out there. Goes for pretty much everyone. That's why I said one of the best. ;)

Hm. Well, the witches back home do a lot of really cool magic. This girl I know can do elemental spells. Fire, water, earth, air, that kind of thing? That's definitely cool. And they can teleport too.

That does help put things in perspective.

Start with the elemental spells. You could probably handle those easier.
Teleportation is a little more advanced.
