Just a thought, considering our recent guests - what's your opinion on vampires and werewolves? Do you have them where you come from or are they just in stories? Monsters? Misunderstood? Just another type of creature?

In my world, they were real but people didn't think of them as anything but stories until a vampire got caught in Central Park attacking joggers. Whole thing was a mess.

And you know what? I agree with you. Always been a bigger fan of werewolves.

Yeah, see, usually in movies werewolves only attack people because they lose control. So it makes you feel kind of sorry for them. When they can control themselves, they just use their power to protect their pack from threats. Stuff like that.

But vampires are more likely to attack people deliberately. Even when there are good vampires, they're usually the odd ones out.

Yep. That was about 20 years ago, when I was what, 17? Yeah. 17 years old.

[He'd known...he'd been a werewolf...for at least two years before that. The rest of what Wilhelm has to say is...cute, actually. He can agree with most of it, besides feeling sorry for werewolves, of course.]

Good point there. I think the difference is that the werewolf is just about control and attacking, they don't actually need human meat or whatever to survive, where the vampires do need blood.

So they can't just drink animal blood instead in real life?

[Most of his vampire knowledge might come from a certain franchise of movies named after a certain time of day... Look, he was born in like, 2005. What do you want from him?]

You know, I've never asked one. Not sure if I've ever met one, actually. I do know the whole sun thing is a myth.

How do you know that if you've never met one?

It is too bad. It was nice thinking that someone else comes from the same place I do.

Oh, because we watched the news when the vampire was caught, and he was in full daylight, no smoke and no sparkles.

We sort of do. Just different versions of it.

[Which...is one more thing to add onto the pile of weird things to think about.]

So were those visitors really...?

Seems like they have more in common than not, at least.

I imagine a lot of things were just made up. The legends were all started way in the past, so they probably didn't understand the supernaturals they ran into, at least the ones they knew about.

Hunters? Yeah.
