Just a thought, considering our recent guests - what's your opinion on vampires and werewolves? Do you have them where you come from or are they just in stories? Monsters? Misunderstood? Just another type of creature?

Me? I think they should be left alone so long as they're not hurting anyone.

So they exist where you're from, and you have enough personal experience to be defensive about it.

Defensive? I wasn't being defensive, that's just my opinion. Plenty of other people think the same thing.

[He's not subtle. He's never been good at keeping it a secret that he's a werewolf. Probably a good thing he lives in a town that's half werewolves.]

I don't actually care who or what you are, so long as whatever it is you're doing doesn't get in my way or hurt my people. But don't sit there and pretend that whatever this is you're doing is going to fly.

Not something you have where you're from?

Nothing like either one exists where I'm from as far as I'm aware. Well, other than the occasional fairy tale about people with the ability to change forms, but that was more of changing to anything form they wanted to take instead of just one. I suppose as long as they're not trying to actively harm me then there's nothing to be concerned about.

The closest thing we had to either is the remainder of a civilization that did some blood experiments in secret, but... as far as I know they were basically human. I'm not sure if it would've explained more or less if they weren't.

In my experience, vampires often earn their reputation. Some of it is the natural result of their nature, the rest is the simple result of living for centuries.

We have both where I'm from. They're people like us, but sometimes they smell worse.

They are pretty rare, though, and I don't think any stories I have about them would be relevant here.

After more recent events, though, I think I have to rethink what I know.

Vampires are like any other powerful creature, including humans - manageable so long as there's someone reasonable at the helm of their society. But if the balance shifts, the scope of damage they can inflict is exponentially worse, and that's where things get dangerous.

Werewolves are much the same, except without the centralized power structure, as far as I'm aware.

And no, not really. Just in comic books and movies and stuff.

People with the ability to change forms? That's interesting, I think we have those two. I've heard of shapeshifters, but I think they're rare. A good opinion, though, I agree.

Blood experiments? That sounds interesting.

So you have them where you come from? What's their reputation like in your world?

That really does sound a lot like humans. Alright so long as someone sensible is leading them.

Yeah, werewolves tend to run in packs rather than nations.

1. Rare
2. Territorial.
3. It is frequently the case that the older they are, the less regard they have for human life due to a) lifespan and b) when people are food, you forget their humanity.
4. Usually get along out of politeness and the knowledge that you'll have to keep dealing with the same group of people over the centuries.

That sounds about like what I know of them from home too, except maybe less rare than uncommon. Can't say I've ever met one to say the truth of the rest of it.
