To: All Summoned
This is the most important question I've had since coming here. I need to get opinions from the rest of you, for science.
Why are all of the Summoned attractive? I have not met a single ugly Summoned and while I do love looking at your gorgeous faces, it seems unusual. Is there an attractiveness requirement? Do they take that into consideration when plucking us out of our universes? Could there be deeper reasons or do they think 'well if they don't help us out, at least they up the beauty curve of our world from a four to a seven'?
I mean, that's what I would do, but I'm interested in other thoughts. Please do not respond to this with false modesty; I know you're pretty, you know you're pretty, this is serious. Unless one of you truly thinks you are unattractive in which case show me a picture if you can and I'll tell you why you're wrong.

Thank you for complimenting my prison of flesh.

Happy to, Emperor Reeks. I'm just speaking the truth.

Eventually flesh will die.
....It reminds me of a story...

Also feel free to tell ME a story, but don't put everyone else through it.

They are good stories.

A shame we cannot simply send images. Something worth figuring out, perhaps.
...I am told I am a very attractive man. Women have swooned. Men too, come to think of it.

I like stories, and I like pretty faces telling stories even better.
anonymous
Easier said than done. I do not know where you are.

action;
He's never been inside but he knows where it is so it takes very little time for him to get there. When one can teleport it takes very little time to get anywhere.
He emerges from the shadows of a nearby alley and enters the building where he peers around for anyone matching the description he'd been given.
Once he sees Jesper his diamond-like features light up and he dances across the floor towards him, his deep purple cloak whirling with his movements.]
Are you the one who requested a story teller?
no subject
He really does stand out, with his tall and skinny frame, green clothes, gray eyes that are so bright they almost glow, and he's currently laughing with the bartender when he notices someone come in. Jesper's been keeping up with the replies to his first attempt at communication, but he didn't expect the anonymous fellow to show up.
He gives him a quick once over and flashes said sunlight smile. ]
Well if it isn't the Emperor!
[ Jesper playfully bows at him, winking. ]
I happen to love stories.
no subject
I am really more jester than emperor. Not that I mind. Jesters have more fun.
[He folds his hands in his lap.]
It does gladden my heart to hear that you enjoy stories, for this humble jester is thinking of writing a whole new tale. Would you care to play a part?
no subject
[ There are royal houses in his world, but no jesters, although the term still is alive in tales. No emperors either, not really, although Jesper mostly keeps out of political things. Surviving in Ketterdam is politics all in itself, without needing other countries to actively get involved.
He sits down and doesn't get a drink either. He technically probably could afford it but he's more of a social drinker. Alcohol is not his vice. He taps his fingers on top of the table, unable to stop moving most of the time, raising an eyebrow curiously at him. ]
I always like to hear interesting pitches. Life's a bit boring here so far.
no subject
[Fandaniel gestures widely at Jesper.]
The pitch, then.
I find myself inspired by your current predicament. This method of communication we have is a bit...lacking, isn't it? What if we could project images or sounds as we do text? What if you could see the lovely faces of your fellow Summoned?
no subject
Obviously if there was a way to do that, that would be preferable. It would be closer to a real conversation then.
[ Jesper obviously had a lot of fun chatting to people the way in front of him, but it gave him a headache at times too, and it felt strange. Odd. Unreal. Where he's from the best they have are letters that require people to deliver them, nothing so fast. But he did feel like something was missing when he wanted to interact with people. He would've liked to see Mat's face, or Julie's, or anyone else's as they spoke. And the dragon person!]
But how would that be possible?
no subject
[Fandaniel flashes a smile that is all teeth.]
I believe with enough study I can find ways to manipulate our connection to it. We are able transmit words with its power, why not images?
But such study would require materials and a laboratory. In this, perhaps, you might be able to assist me?
no subject
You may want to test that one out carefully. The Singularity is temperamental, it's what keeps sending people back randomly. Back or into the abyss, hard to say.
[ People assume they go back, but they could just as easily be made into dust. It is why he is not yet convinced to poke and prod at it in a bid to be sent home. He knows Inej is eager to leave, but he doesn't want either of them to disintegrate like the normal people around here do with the Singularity. ]
It's sweet of you to ask, but do I look like I have the money for a lab? None of us showed up here with a full coin purse.
[ Or, you know, clothes. ]
no subject
Rest assured I am not asking for your sponsorship.
What I need is supplies and someone who might be able to fetch them for me while I am busy elsewhere.
[Then he frowns dramatically.]
But if you are overly concerned that I will upset the Singularity in my tampering then I suppose you would not be willing to help.
I do not think my experiments will bother it much at all. Better to learn more about its power with a gentle nudging instead of oh, I don't know... forcing it to summon us an army from the rift. Wouldn't you agree?
[Not that what he won't use whatever he learns for his own schemes later.]
no subject
Yeah, alright, the idea doesn't seem like that big a deal. I like fetching.
[ How much damage can one person make trying to do face conversations anyway? Too bad he doesn't have Kaz around to hit him upside the head. ]
Maybe test your idea out through the Horizon somehow. Could be however the Singularity makes that work is something we can manipulate in other ways, yeah?
