[A combination of deep exasperation and resignation doesn't show in Altaïr's 'handwriting', but if it could, it absolutely would.]

We discovered a pair of mated lizards in the woods of Solvunn some time ago. One appears entirely normal, the other is half-mechanical, with gears in its midsection. It should clearly be dead regardless of where those gears came from, and yet it both lives and has fathered eggs.

[Unspoken: 'That's fucked up, right?'

Hilda's handwriting interjects, clearly addressing Altaïr. ]

Miracle implies the presence of divinity. This is clearly something else. I would like to know what, and to know whether any other Summoned have encountered anything similar.

We discovered them in Solvunn during the kidnappings after following several leads that point to the area. This one was...notably unusual, so we followed it.

[Altaïr expected that they might be taking lizard-visitors for several evenings, so he'd booked a room for the week, one of several ways he houses himself while never arranging a permanent address. He expects that Geralt will both notice the transient atmosphere and not care.

His eyes spark with curiosity when he sees the odd combination of metal and bone.]

Interesting. [Well, if you're into this kind of thing. He's not squeamish at all and picks up the hand, turning it which way and that to try and discern the metal's purpose.] Why did you keep it?

It was a surprise to me as well but I've been forced to adjust.

Still, I can't deny the creature's existence is fascinating.

[Which means that Alucard is absolutely going to abuse vampire speed to pick up Veliki. Is it over the top and completely pointless? Absolutely. Is Alucard going to feel bad about it? Not at all.

He's careful in his grip at least, bringing the lizard up to eye level to get a better look.]

[ To hear that they've met - the two most loneliest of loners that she knows - means it's incredibly difficult for her to hide her surprise. They've started to move on from the subject, but Hilda certainly hasn't.

The drama queen in her won't let her. ]

When did you two meet? You never come out of your room [ She points to Jayden before quickly pointing to Altaïr. The corner of her mouth twitches, a sure sign that there's some teasing folded into this. ] And you don't like meeting people.

Well actually we are working on them -

[ She doesn't finish the sentence because there's a sudden rush of wind as Alucard blurs right by her. Hilda can't recall a time when he's made use of his vampire heritage before; she's surprised for one, but more than that she's impressed.

Veliki peers back at him curiously, seemingly also taken aback by the speed in which he had been picked up. ]

Maybe a month or so ago? It's hard to say how long he's been like this though.

[Against his will, sure, but still. But as much as he would indeed rather not have left, he isn't actually as grumpy about being here as he's pretending to be, and that Altaïr is also apparently just as unlikely to have been social as Jayden is oddly reassuring.]

[Look sometimes the element of surprise helps. Alucard's pretty sure that it'll help, and he's careful as he pokes at the gears. The first question he has is material, because that points to certain needs.]

It isn't as if lizards have especially long lifespans. One would need to assume that he was an adult when this happened though, as it doesn't look as if he grew into the gears.
