There were these other weird places that everyone else sort of wound up in, but they'd always get spit out after a few hours, and they were sometimes with other people. I think they could still send other messages out, too. But I was in one place the whole time, about a week. I couldn't get out or talk to anyone else, except one other person who was in a totally different place - we could only sorta scream back and forth until he got thrown back too. He was connected to the Singularity cause of some kind of magic spell from his own world, that the Singularity sort of jammed itself into. But I don't even really think I got thrown back the same way as the others. The ground started to fall away, and I touched the blob in the sky, and then I fell through the ground, like in a... time spiral or something? Then I crashed into my own domain. My brain was all fucked up for a few months cause of the whole thing. I think I was kinda slowly dying cause I couldn't really sleep or think and I wasn't eating, but Wanda went in and like, fixed it. Sorta. It's complicated.

But when I went back to that same place for a few weeks, I didn't touch the blob or fall through the ground again, and I was fine. [ Julie has not been fine in years, but in the relative sense. ] So I think it was my own fuck-up the first time.

I mean, what's the normal flavor of cotton candy? Just sugar? That's good. Or like, maybe a strawberry flavor. Or if his dick is a chocolate fountain, that's good too, but he needs to say something first.

Is it a fuck up if you're dealing with something that's literally never happened to you or anyone else and you're just trying to survive something insane? I would say you handled it the best you could while it was happening. Not to like Good Will Hunting you here, but it really wasn't your fault. You shouldn't be so hard on yourself.

It's okay. It's over now. Like I said, it was fine the second time. The ground didn't even crumble away.

BALLOON fetishes? That is definitely a new one as far as I know. I'm not sheltered or anything, I guess my google searches have been vanilla in comparison to others.

I think some of them are the domains of gods, but not the one I went to. I don't know where mine is.

Oh yeah, there's different balloon fetishes too. Some people like to watch someone else pop em, some people like to rub on em. I saw this one guy who wanted to be IN a balloon, and he had this big custom one made to do it. That wasn't porn though, it was just a youtube video.

Do you think maybe it's like levels of power? Like the old gods who have been around forever have different ones from the baby gods? I ask because that is how it would've definitely worked in my world. The old gods are on a whole other plane than their kids. Maybe you got yoinked by someone bigger.

Could be. I know there's two groups of gods, the Old Gods and the Cardinal Gods. The Cardinal ones are younger. But they ALL have an arcana, just like us. The place I've been doesn't have one at all - but every other place does.

Oh, there's definitely weird New Magic sex toys. They have a whole shop in Libertas.

Okay wild theory but what if that's the Singularity's place? Like maybe it had its own area that no one can get to, but because it likes you, it swooped you in? If all the gods have arcanas, it seems like the only option without one.

It's the blob's place, the blob lives there. I couldn't see the Singularity anywhere in the distance.

I don't trust New Magic all that much, if I'm honest. Definitely not enough to put it near any tender bits.

The Singularity loves her. It wouldn't watch her in misery for a week just to discard her through... whatever she went through. ]

Kind of? It's built on regular Academic Magic, like High Magic is. Except instead of bringing the gods into it, they apply it to technology and weapons and shit. There's a lot of crystals involved.

[ The New Magic sounds kind of interesting, and reminds her of some of the tech-adjacent spells they have in her world. It's weird to think that anywhere on this planet has advanced tech of some kind, compared to what little she's seen in Solvunn and not exactly all that much more in Nocwich. ]

I've been teaching people here my type of magic. It's rarer to find people with magical ability where I'm from, so everyone has the capacity here and it's pretty cool I think!

What is your kind of magic?My world didn't have any at all, so it's all new to me.

It's heavily spellwork in pretty much every area you hear about in media. Think Harry Potter (did you have Harry Potter?) but without needing a wand or to say the spell out loud. The only requirement is natural magical ability (like everyone has here) and usually hand gestures. The hands are necessary because they're basically framing a spell to make it work, the real power comes from your will to use it.

So elemental magic, telekinesis, shields, battle magic, light or darkness bending, fixing objects, teleportation, illusions, etc. It's really great.

And people who can do that stuff can just do it? Like they didn't need to go to school or anything?

There is a college for magic users named Brakebills but they're assholes about it. They erase people's memories if they don't pass their test and look down on self-made witches.

Why would you need to pass a test to be a witch? If people can do it, won't they just do it?

But then again, I guess that's what most of Thorne is like. Nott deserves better.

Yeah, they do it, but Brakebills keeps access to most books about it or training to themselves. They hoard all the magical info so it's hard to get a hold of any real spells. And if you're not trained, you can die using it the wrong way, so hedge witches like me always are taking a risk. We still do, obviously.

Why don't y'all band together and do something about it? Bombs are good for that. Just saying.

You're not wrong. Honestly they're very lucky we're all spread out. All it takes is one alumni key and you can walk right in. I guess part of it is knowing you'd be in for one hell of a fight, with people who are better trained and skilled than you are. Marina, the hedge witch who got me started in a lot of ways, was a former Brakebills student. They wipe your memory when you get kicked out, so they held all her memories of magic from her.

It's very classist. The higher crust of Magicians fucking suck, Brakebills is just the start of it. Think like 1% corruption with super powers.

No, definitely not! Hedge witches are untrained naturally gifted magic users. Brakebills magicians do use the term as an insult because it means we weren't good enough to get into their school and shouldn't exist.

The weird thing is that in other timelines, I was in Brakebills, and it's insane to me to know that other versions of me were probably full out assholes like the rest of them at one point.

It's just weird cause why not take everyone. Isn't that why we made public schools, cause it was good for everyone for kids to learn shit? Going to school shouldn't be harder than getting on American Idol. Sometimes it's weird talking to people here from like, medieval worlds or whatever, and they're so fascinated by stuff that I can't even remember NOT knowing.

I don't know. They like to control the magical population I guess. We lost all magic recently and things got ugly, as they stored magic by killing and maiming fairy slaves. Magic can be something like an addiction though, when you have it, it's hard to stop. I tried for a while and I couldn't, I missed it too much.

No I haven't. I thought the internet and TV would be hard to explain but I think enough people have been around the block here they're catching on. We have the network to point to at least to explain that part.
