Thorne Summoned, Nott is getting bombarded by these winds, many of their boats are sinking, in disrepair, or in danger. I can teach people wind and shield spells in case. If you're willing to come help them, and the hospital could still use assistance, please come through the portal.


To the rest of the Summoned: are you experiencing the same heavy winds? I haven't heard if it's across the continent.

He will. It is regrettable but he'll put his people first.

Given the situation, it's what he must and should do. As much as I know his wish is to become independent of the crown, these storms are not to be underestimated.

Unlike with the rift monsters, we can't exactly be deployed to cut down storm clouds.

What they need are the walls and wards that Borrel has for this situation. But I'm sure offering that will come with a price.

Yes, it's hard to imagine that anyone will help simply out of the goodness of their hearts.

Well, save for us. Unfortunately, we're limited by our numbers.

[ He, Alyx, and Dante can do plenty of hauling things around and patching up boats that have suffered damages, but will they be able to keep up with a storm of this magnitude? Unlikely. ]

Limited by number and what little influence we have. We also don't have the supplies ourselves. I'm sure we can help where we can when we're there, but they're a poor city, they won't have new and strong wood to replace anything. There's only one way for them to get what they need.

Have I mentioned recently I strongly dislike the crown?

Frankly, it's simply not a good idea to allow any boats out onto the lake at the moment. Surely Lyle will put in some sort of order to that effect, although then so much of Nott's income and a vital food source is cut off until the storm passes. Meaning the castle will need to supplement in the meantime.

You haven't, though you hardly needed to.

Yes, they'll have to call what boats they can in, and then repair the damage to what manages. There may be people lost to the water, unfortunately. I think we can all already see that there's no other option here. The crown will have to get involved. Now if they were good people, they'd just take care of Nott because they don't want them to suffer.

They will likely try to make it seem that way, but the true price being paid is assuring that Nott remains neatly under their thumb. No doubt Lyle is aware of this.

It's difficult not to be frustrated, as if we're headed right back to the drawing board.

I am determined. It's possible we may be here for many years, and if that's the case, eventually we are going to get Nott out of this situation. I don't know how. But surely at least in a century I can get it done.

Hopefully it doesn't take that long. Not all of us have that kind of time.

Mayhap I am singular in this, but I would also like to make my way home one of these days.

Perhaps not. There are times when it feels that way, however. It's been surprising to learn how many wish to stay.

Some have nothing good waiting for them there. Some are dead. Others prefer this life and their loved ones here in comparison. I'm a mix. My future is bleak, my world is depressing, and I have people I love here. There is no comparison. But that is not every experience.

Yes, I imagine in that case the choice becomes a simple one. I fear it will never be quite that, for me.

If you have something good to return to, I will hope you can find it, although I selfishly appreciate the time we do have together.

I do have people I must return to back home, as well as beyond it. It becomes complicated, but I can only hope that my time here will not have derailed things too much, given that time does not seem to pass back home without us.

I didn't have many friends before coming here. It's been a nice change.

From what I've heard of people who go back and then return, the timeline goes by with them in it. And no one realized I was gone when I came here, because a version of me remained.

It kind of reminds Thancred of Urianger, though, who's opened up so much over the years after keeping to himself for so long. Mages. ]

Yes, I have heard the same. That is one relief.

Last time this happened to me, time did pass while I was gone, through the timelines flowed at different rates. Quite confusing, let me tell you.

I have been searching for a way to find an anchor, to keep people here who want to stay. If there is a way to reverse that and send them back as well, it'll be done.

Do you think either option is possible? Not that I doubt you or the other powerful mages among our ranks, but it does feel as if we've hit some sort of wall with that.

I am skeptical that it is, but I have no intention of giving up on my research in case. I think it comes down to how strong our connection is to the Singularity and if we can lock it.

I hope that you can. While I might want to make my way home, the idea of someone being ripped back to their star when that isn't what they want doesn't sit well with me either.

Especially those who have nothing to go back to. There are a few people who are in that position. [ Like Lucifer. ] I am determined to try and keep them alive.
