Greetings to Summoned friends and strangers alike;
I come to you with an inquiry -- rare for me, I know. As much as I like discovering things on my full own efforts, I can admit I'm a little perplexed with the current predicament. On a recent bout of monster huntering in the desert (not on my part, of course), my companion and I came across a most peculiar specimen. These great beasts appear to be quite domesticated, and are not suited for a desert environment, what with their thick plumage and docile nature. One was caught in the midst of an absorber's hunt (which I do insist all stay away from; the monster hunter in question was very aware of how to deal with one) and injured, while the others appeared to be a mother with a chick.
Now, I have studied the Free Cities' bestiaries to the best of my ability, and have not seen mention of such birds before.
I thought saving the beasts would be all to speak of the story, but I'm afraid one has followed me back to Cadens and taken a liking to me. However, I do not have the heart to turn her away, and thus have taken to stabling her alongside a family horse. She did not appear to mind being tied or bridled. She is in fact a terribly sweet creature, and though she seems happy enough to eat the hay provided, I would be remiss if I did not attempt to find out her proper diet.
And so I ask, friends, thus: have you any knowledge of a similar creature? She is large in stature, towering over myself, and with bright golden plumage. She does not appear to be capable of flight.
[And because he's a little medieval man, there's a portrait following the letter:]

Hmm. ]
As Himeka has already deduced, that looks a great deal like a chocobo, save for the little sprigs sprouting from its head and neck. Perhaps those are embellishments?
They are large, rideable birds from our star. Some people even race them, but they are often used to transport goods or to take an adventurer from place to place. Wild ones tend to live in forested areas rather than deserts, though they are quite capable of protecting themselves when the need arises.
[ He could probably go on, but that's a decent primer on chocobos, he thinks. ]

Next time, I'll give it to you in triplicate.

Now that we have this confirmation, do you plan to tame one of your own?
no subject
Might try to convince the horse guy to take a few on, though.
[ Taming these things is extra work, and Reno's not about that life. ]

[ As someone with a breadth of survivalist skills, Thancred might even be able to help the "horse guy" in this task. And Reno will simply ride his coattails, it seems. ]

Anyway, caught one runnin' outside my window a couple nights ago, so looks like you ain't the only one seeing chocobos.

Wait, really? Where are you? We led the few we found to a watering whole, but I cannot imagine someone with your -- complexion -- is spending much time out in the desert.
no subject
Your under-toasted ass really gonna be the one to give me shit for that?
[ There's a question that's been asked which he's totally not answering. ]
no subject
Do not let my gentle and elegant demeanor betray you. I do, in fact, work. Possibly much more than those less blessed than myself. Both in complexion and in endurance. I remember one of us lagged a bit behind during our last race, and it wasn't me, so...

And don't go spreading lies just 'cause you're jealous of how pretty I am.
no subject
That is you, not me.

Embellishments? It's called a crest, dear, and many birds have similar. My apologies if you do not have a head to wrap around the sort of art that comes from my sphere. The very talented art from a proficient hand.
[However, in typical Jaskier-fashion, he's instantly distracted.]
Rideable, you say? Like a horse? You ride these things? I... oh. That does explain the size. What about saddles? Is it normally ridden bareback? Must they be kept together, or will one thrive on its own? I did notice the very large talons, but they do not entirely seem inclined to use them. At least not on me, nor any other people. In fact, I would say she must be quite accustomed to crowds.

I will say that art is hardly my forte. I'll assume this is merely a stylistic choice, then.
[ No need to get into an argument over it when there are far more important things to discuss. ]
Yes, normally you would saddle them before riding, though someone skilled could likely manage bareback if needed.
One will thrive on its own if given enough attention by the one who keeps it, I suspect. This one sounds as if it's already been domesticated, so you're in luck there.

[You're forgiven your ignorance, white-haired man.]
Ah, brilliant! I'd shake your hand if we weren't half a continent away. Brilliant. I was afraid my taking her in could be to her detriment, despite her appearing rather sated, but you've helped allay my fears. Please, if anything else comes to mind, do let me know! I fully intend to have all my companions enjoy their life with me to the fullest.

Their favorite foods are greens. Gysahl greens in particular, though I don't believe that exact plant exists here. Think "leafy vegetable."

I can do that, certainly. What sort of magic do you use, if you don't mind my asking?
no subject
It was a complete accident, but over time, my interests -- and talents, of course -- have been focused on green magic. Er. A bit of botany. Plant magic. I can grow just about any flora you can imagine. And I've even grown some I recall from home, so... I believe I can recreate something from someone else's sphere, given enough time to research it.
no subject
Green magic? That's a new one, though white magic is likely the closest we have as a point of comparison. In any case, you sound more than capable of giving your new chocobo friend a diet that will keep her content. I'll make the dropoff at your domain before the day is out, rest assured.

[Something tells him this might be a disastrous idea. No idea where the feeling comes from, of course. Certainly not from Moglad's continued habit of getting absolutely shitfaced off Jaskier's wine cellar in the Horizon and then passing out on the table. No. Definitely not.
Nor his attempts to feed his wine to his steed.]
It's not literally green, of course, but so-called after the... green of plants, I assume. I would think white magic is not, er, white. I don't know what that is, actually. There is no color-based magical system from my sphere.
However, I appreciate it! Thank you, my friend. I do so very care about her already.
