Well, that wasn’t a boring weekend, not that one.

It was wonderful to meet some of you in person - and enormously encouraging to meet so many new faces. I hope the masquerade entertained you all. But, on the other hand, wasn’t there something peculiar about it? Does anybody else feel led up the garden path? I fear this is me being paranoid but…

I think the Fey mean to return to this world. I know I would be delighted to get back home and, I might add, so would many of you. It’s only natural we miss our loved ones. “My heart to joy at the same tone. And all I loved, I loved alone.”

Now, I suggest we discuss our impressions of our hosts this week and what we managed to glean by means of information. The most pressing and urgent problem I think, without doubt, is their intentions. Perhaps we should discuss our experiences and share what we learned. It could prove useful. Our small community cannot afford to misplace its trust, and I advise we exercise critical thinking at this juncture.

At this point, I hardly care. I think people should remember permitting a possible lie to stand is injustice. To quote our perennial favourite, "Often injustice lies in what you are not doing, not only in what you are doing."

I have nothing further to add.

I didn't say I objected. In this case, I'd consider it prudent.

They may have truly been the benevolent hosts they presented themselves as — I saw no signs of dissembling. I also doubt that they chose to make such a grand gesture of hospitality for no reason other than the goodness in their hearts.

Well, I know yours is a valuable opinion: thank you for sharing it. Do you suppose the fact you witnessed no signs of dissembling means nothing of the kind occured? If not through actions than through words.

It makes it less likely. Most people aren't good liars. But even if every word they spoke was the truth, they may still have had a purpose in inviting us that they did not speak of. Their possible return is one possibility.

One possibility of many.

They have different schools of thought on the matter, I imagine, just like us.

A good point. We shouldn't make the mistake of assuming they think as one. Still, there may be a unifying consensus.

Perhaps. Did you encounter anything that made you think twice since last we spoke?

Nothing new. But I'll be very interested to know when we might next hear from the Fey.

Sooner rather than later, I imagine.

I hope so. I'm not a fan of living in suspense.

Few are. But fewer still can handle it.

Perhaps that's a thing we will need to learn in this place.

There are worse lessons to learn than that one.

Indeed. But some are better learners than others.

Perhaps. That doesn't mean I'm not interested in hearing your answer.

Ah, but that hardly obliges me to answer. I'll admit I was far ahead of others my age and leave it there.
