Well, that wasn’t a boring weekend, not that one.

It was wonderful to meet some of you in person - and enormously encouraging to meet so many new faces. I hope the masquerade entertained you all. But, on the other hand, wasn’t there something peculiar about it? Does anybody else feel led up the garden path? I fear this is me being paranoid but…

I think the Fey mean to return to this world. I know I would be delighted to get back home and, I might add, so would many of you. It’s only natural we miss our loved ones. “My heart to joy at the same tone. And all I loved, I loved alone.”

Now, I suggest we discuss our impressions of our hosts this week and what we managed to glean by means of information. The most pressing and urgent problem I think, without doubt, is their intentions. Perhaps we should discuss our experiences and share what we learned. It could prove useful. Our small community cannot afford to misplace its trust, and I advise we exercise critical thinking at this juncture.

Well, aside from being religious, they seem suspicious. Like anyone they fear being met with violence. Quite understandable when one considers their history, really.

But what truly caught my eye is a growing unease with being trapped in a small... pocket, shall we call it? The mind can only endure so much confinement. We call it cabin fever back home.

So much confinement and so much mundanity. Some species would be satisfied with the same routine in perpetuity, but they do not strike me as such. The novelty of our arrival seemed to stir quite a bit of interest, it begs the question of what they may do for want of continued novelty to one another, or to this realm should they return.

What anyone does when deprived of liberty: they seek peace or bloodshed. Some convince themselves to accept their fate. Others find the patience to wait and survive. More give up on their ideals and live as themselves. Remember, when people reach the limit of what they can stand, not all resort to peace over violence.

Of that I am all too familiar. Better that we make certain they do not reach their breaking point- or that we are prepared should the worst come to pass.

Well, they're not the only ones. I am loathe to consider how our benefactors might write us the draft. The Free Cities already encourage national service and I suspect Solvunn and Thorne would pressure many of us to play along. Hard question, isn't it? How much we should repay their hospitality...

We do owe our hosts a debt for their generosity, but no offer made with expectation of repayment in service and skill is entirely altruistic. We were summoned here for a purpose even if there is currently a truce. I do not care to continue to play things by ear, but that's where we are now, unfortunately.

Absolutely. At this point, we're all living in the moment. But it would be nice to imagine we could make plans for the future. The sad thing is I just don't know if we can.
