Several moons ago when we first headed into Nocwich, there was a fortune teller named Lady Elin. I'm sure many of us went to her tent to have our fortunes read. Perhaps you've forgotten what it was she said. I know divination is met with a lot of skepticism.

Would you be willing to share your fortune with me, if you remember it? I'd like to know if it relates to anything in your life, whether it be from your time before Abraxas or since being summoned.

[and because you cannot expect something without putting yourself on the line...]

She would say "I see" and "you hold a tie to". For me, it was 'many lost souls under the night sky' and 'old lands that find new roots'. It makes me think of my home country. Many hundreds of thousands died because of the war waged in it. The country no longer exists.

I don't want to bore you with more details, but that is my basic interpretation of it.

Even if it could be pretty personal, thank you for reading this. I'm just being curious. If you want to talk privately, my name is Wanda.

[ He still seems wary, until she brings out the paper. That appears to tip the scales - along with the offer to paint on his barn. There's already a simple mural on the side that the children made while their parents were helping him put together a straw bed, table and appropriately sized chair. ]

There is still a clay container and brush left over from the painting, only the white paint though. They used most of the red to paint the barn (a bright color that stands out in Solvunn, but suggested by a neighbor who thought it might disguise any messes). ]

The process to have it returned involves a great sacrifice, arguably a greater sacrifice than what I would regain.

Have you been considering that path?

I would say a figure of mist is vague by very definition. And a "great weapon" could be a sword or an axe or a lance (I could go on), or it could have a more metaphorical meaning.

I hadn't considered that. The only thing I can recall I really experienced before switching was... stopping Thorne's Summoned from delivering the caskets to the Singularity... The Dimming that year, and that sham of a Peace Summit.

[Peace, she thinks, is not something Thorne or the Free Cities either one are interested. Solvunn has always felt more neutral in the greater scheme, but she knows they have their own plans and ideas, too.]

Have you been working towards learning more skills and abilities with your sword?

Dude, that's pretty much the main thing I do.
Practice with swords, learn about swords, kill shit with swords.
Sometimes other weapons I guess? But not so much.
Other kinds of workouts too obvs, a girl's gotta be at peak physical fitness.

But yeah, I don't disagree with you.

Sometimes it's better not to see it coming.

she's already getting ideas of how she'd use her magic to create a space for him like that. for now, she grabs at the paint brush in the same motion that she gives him the paper.]

The first letter is A— [and she draws it, both in upper and lowercase.] We use the big letter for the first letter of names, or to start a sentence. Or if you just want to yell in writing, just write A-A-A-A— [she sputters, laughing a little.] You get it.

If I were to try to relate any of it to events that I experienced, I would say the second half more clearly fits.

You saw Ryne in my memories. She is referred to as the Oracle of Light, a legacy that followed her before she was even born. When I think of something that would light the way in the darkness, a lodestar, I think of her.

A-A-A-A— [ he repeats, opening his mouth wide. After that he decides to sit on the grass next to where she stands, crossing his meaty legs. She is much smaller than him, but he still has to look up a little bit.

The other outside decorations on his barn-shed seem to be children's height. They had fun making little paintings on the wood while the adults helped Nanaue move things. ]
