@everyone, end of week 2 (after solvunn visits)

[Viktor’s hurried script is maybe familiar to some, but what’s different now (beyond the fact that it’s slightly more hurried) is that it appears on its own. Whatever this is about, it’s apparently important enough for him to make a rare solo appearance, a departure from his joint broadcast with Jayce. Right now, it's just him, relaying information as quickly and expediently as possible.

If you’re not necessarily familiar with Viktor himself, the words match those soliciting location information not too long ago. It seems this is the culmination of those efforts.
]

We know where the captives are being held. It’s an island directly north of the Singularity crater, roughly three hours off the coast of Thorne’s border, where I am now. I’ve created a map in my Horizon to show the location, as well as the data from the trackers that allowed me to pinpoint it. The explanation is slightly technical, but suffice to say the system is improved to the point where I am confident in its accuracy. Jayce and I can answer any questions about it, though you may need to direct inquiries regarding the magical component to Stephen.

[Who is here, also.]

Thank you to those who offered to collect additional data with the receivers. We would not have been able to locate this place otherwise.

The island itself is not large, though we suspect it’s heavily warded, with the exact holding area magically concealed. We weren’t able to detect anyone coming or going, so it’s likely the captors are using portals to access it directly from various abduction sites. I imagine this aligns with other investigations.

What happens now will require cooperation. Sam has done what reconnaissance he can, but we're not sure of what awaits us on the island itself, nor do we know who is responsible. Accessing the island will require us to eliminate its magical defenses or otherwise dispel its enchantments—any additional information that anyone has gathered is, at this point, vital to share.

[ooc: full receipts are here for the curious! responses may come from any of the four characters currently investigating the island, and please thread jack away. pit people…feel free to receive snippets of this message as appropriate. for additional plotting/convergence of plots, hit me up on plurk at [plurk.com profile] whitticus or discord at whitticus#8139.]

We don't know yet. Someone had a theory about apotheosis.

[she had to ask michael wtf that meant.]
She gouged out the eyes of the person we were looking through.
We're working on getting the warded door in her home open.

We could only see what the eyes focused on. The person was tied to a stone altar. I think I saw vines with thorns.

There were other robed people around.

That's what I'm thinking.
She isn't anywhere else, at least not in Solvunn.

There are a lot of magical wards in her home and with her belongings.
We're looking into opening them up.

There's been talk in Solvunn for a while about disappearing families, usually implied that they moved out of the commune.
I wonder if she had something to do with that, back then.

A child had been haunted by a one of the masked people. He kept calling it a 'white-faced demon'. She must have started her rituals near her home.
The council was already unhappy with her prior to the Dimming. She did a lot of things that weren't in favor of the commune.

The Council has given us some ideas on how to work the warding. It's a complicated process, but we should be able to see it through.
They'll provide us with as much aid as possible. Especially when it comes to getting those Josselyn took back from where they are.

I'll share your findings on the location with them.

The items inside it seem to have seen use until recently.
She was 'gone' when the disappearances started.

Don't worry. She will be made to answer for what she's done.

It is a very, very rough suggestion based on what details have emerged. They may not be trying to achieve godhead, but there is a clear connection and conviction that some level of communing with gods is involved.

If we assume that that's the goal, then enter the situation with the worst case scenario in mind and armed for that. It should make anything less than feel easier to deal with.

Whatever they're doing, it's ritualistic in nature.

I'm not the one to organize these things, but we need groups. Healers, defense, offense. We need to be wary of their magic.

[where is the tactical people to take over please]

Frankly, we need to consider 1. Defenses etc. made from high magic to protect the ritual(s) and 2. Magic related to the ritual(s) themselves that could possibly backfire or otherwise go off course if interrupted.

Charms and spells can be destroyed with the right incantation.
We are speaking to the Elders in the commune regarding some of these things.

[if nothing else, wanda needs to do so much quick magic studying during this short period of time.]

I'm worried about there being too many options and gods. But I'm sure they will be able to make sense of a portion of this.
