[ In her domain, Julie sits in a booth, bent over the table with a stack of paper and pen. She bites the tip of her tongue in concentration, then starts writing invitations. She intends to leave them all over the Horizon, fliers more than proper addressed invites.

Soon, all of the off-worlders are able to see writing in their vision. This writing appears to simply be written on any nearby surface: a tabletop, on the page of a book in place of the text, in a pool of water. It sparkles to summon attention to itself, just enough of a twinkle to earn a glance. ]

Soon, other thoughts may begin appearing in your vision, sparkling until they catch your eye. Your own thoughts can be broadcast too. If you put in a little effort, you can even send them directly to a specific person, or a group.

It's not Halloween if you don't scream at least once. Some places back home make you sign waivers, so you can't blame them if you keel over from fright.

So like, hulking bone constructs? Ancient hungry wraiths? That kind of thing?

[ It takes Julie a second to work through that. She doesn't know what a wraith is, but she figures it's a monster of some kind. Instead, she focuses on the part she does understand. ]

Sure. I remember a couple of years before everything, they started selling these huge skeletons to put in your yard, they were like twelve feet tall. Everyone loved them, they totally sold out.

[Whilst the concept of a 'yard' is beyond her, the rest - she thinks - makes perfect sense.]

Are there gonna be desserts?

Duh. Halloween is like, 50% candy-based.

I'm gonna go ahead and assume that's some kind of dessert. In which case, sign me up, sweetheart! I want the candy and the giant skeletons.

You don't have candy? Little sweet things made of sugar? Or chocolate, sometimes. There's a bunch of different kinds.

Nah, just snow leeks and nutrient paste and shitty grey gruel. Yeah I know, I come from a shithole. No one is more aware of this than me, I promise.

And that would be completely awesome, Julie. I never thought the day would come when I'd miss being surrounded by skeletons, but here we are.

I'm pretty sure we ALL come from shitholes, some of them just have better snacks.

That's just a you thing, 'cause I sure as shit don't miss being surrounded by dead folks.

Yeah, I kinda got the memo. Everyone else's places of original are wildly different from mine. Was being surrounded by dead folk fucking creepy? Yes it was. But was it normal? Also yes.

My world was kind of similar to some other people's I've talked to, except none of them had a superflu. I did talk to one guy whose world was almost identical to mine, they even had a plague at the same time we did, but theirs wasn't as deadly.

But yeah, I sure as fuck don't ever want to see another dead body.
