Hello everyone, I hope you're all having a good day. My name is Jayce Talis and I have a business in Cadens with my partner Viktor. We're inventors and scientists back home, and we've adjusted to life here creating a variety of objects that might be of interest to people. I'm a blacksmith so primarily my work involves blades, tools, both regular ones and multi-tools, shields, canes, and collapsible versions of everything I make as a family expertise.

[Viktor, for his part, is a bit more to-the-point.]

We’re also in the business of custom projects. Given an idea, I’m reasonably certain we would be able to bring almost anything from concept to completion. Within reason, of course–we’re still working under certain technological limitations, but if a particular tool or device is of interest to you, it’s worth describing to us. We’ll see what we can do.

We wanted to let people in Cadens know that you can come to us and request what you're looking for. We give 15% off everything for the Summoned, but if you're new to the area and can't pay, you can consider anything on loan until you can save up. No hurry, we know it's hard to get started. Unfortunately we're not 100% sure if they'll let us ship these things to the other locations right now, but if that changes we'll let you know. Sorry.

Something that’s also of interest to us is the general working conditions of the mines in Cadens. We have a few ideas for basic improvements and increased safety, but any work we do will require the removal of outdated equipment. Unsurprisingly, the government is not necessarily keen on funding such an endeavor.

So what we're hoping for are volunteers in Cadens who are willing to do some heavy lifting with us to get the dangerous old machinery out of there. It is a volunteer situation although we'd be happy to make you something in thanks.

If there is interest, Jayce and I plan to extend an invitation to our domain, to exchange notes. A meeting of the minds, of sorts, for those of us who are more scientifically-inclined.

We'd really love to pick the minds of fellow scientists, inventors, or tech experts from all locations.

How dangerous - and how heavy - are we talking here?

[ Being brand new here, Sylvain has been trying to figure out a solution on how to best arm himself again. Working in trade for it doesn't sound like that bad a deal, if this is all it sounds to be. ]

It's mostly dangerous because it's getting in the way of everything else. It will be cumbersome to get out of there, but the pieces themselves are not dangerous. Just getting them out may be. Some of them would take at least two strong people to carry out, and we may need more than that on a few. If it was easy to move, they would've already done it themselves. But if a team can get together for this, we should be able to get it done!

I don't mind some heavy lifting, if you're serious about making weapons in exchange for it. I can't say I have a lot of experience with mines or the machines they use, but if all you're looking for is muscle, I'll volunteer. I've only just gotten here, so it's not like I've got much else going on right now.

Right now it's just the muscle, yes. It's a little finagling because of timing and space, but we'll organize all that before we go in. What type of weapon are you looking for? We don't make guns, that is the major thing.

...What's a gun?

It's a projectile weapon that is very dangerous.

I'll admit I've never made one but we're partnered with the local best blacksmith in the city, I can ask her what she thinks.

Ahh, I see. I don't think we have those where I come from. But most projectile weapons are very dangerous in my experience, so...

I'll still help out even if she can't, no worries. It's just strange, being in a foreign place like this without any of my things. If she knows how to make something similar, I'd be greatly appreciative. I can even supply schematics if that helps?

I understand, that's why I started making things in the first place, I know so many of us come here already feeling a little lost. Schematics would be extremely helpful, yes. Between myself and Lee, you'll get what you need.

Yes I think once we have a headcount and get everything ready, we'll be able to head's up everyone with when to show up. Considering we have a good amount of volunteers, it shouldn't take that long. I know the miners will be very grateful, they're good folks.

Then I'm even more pleased to be of aid. If it makes things safer for them in there, then it should definitely be fixed.

To add: we're not asking anyone to do this unassisted. Rigging simple pulley systems, etc. to aid in the removal is part of the plan.

Having something you could haul unwieldy things out on might be helpful too, if the size of the mines allow for it.

Generally, that's what the mine carts are for.

Well, yes, that would be helpful. But it sounded like whatever machinery was there wasn't in good condition anymore, so I didn't want to assume.

Don't worry. I'm well acquainted with and highly appreciative of simple machines. I also won't be doing any of the heavy lifting, so I need to contribute in other ways. You'll be properly facilitated.
