To: Everyone
When I was only fifteen my closest friend learned the importance of manners. At present I respect him too much to repeat the tale. Though the shock taught him well, I hardly think I can claim credit for his education. He learned all by himself that his lesson was a simple one: if you intrude on a private space, you cannot expect the individual to let things be.
Our realms within the Horizon are supposedly an expression of emotions and desires. How many worlds exist that are akin to an expression of one’s identity? To visit another’s sanctuary is an honour and a privilege. One that many abuse and squander by entering without permission.
For some, they are the closest place to home. How can one rest knowing their only source of shelter has been intruded upon by nothing more than common knaves and scoundrels?
This leads unto the question I have for all of you:
Have you people never learned to knock?

Upon my word, I have never met a gentleman so bored as to regale me with philosophy. Is your nitpicking a ploy to disguise some absurd penchant for encroaching upon foreign soil? The spiritual kind. Like that within the Horizon, I might say.

Sincere apologies, of course. I dread to imagine you being insincere. That you are sincere does you credit.

Perhaps I can. But an entire realm is a tall order, I dare say.

Were it not a bridge above the clouds then I believe that would be entirely possible. Beyond that, I find myself deluged by people irregardless.
Perhaps I am simply cursed with misfortune.

Or just talk to the people who visit for a few minutes. You sound like kind of a dick, so you'll be left alone soon enough if you do that.
no subject
Alone indeed! I am not a graceless peasant who neglects his duties as a host. Not even for those who come without invitation. I entertained people enough. I did my duty. I simply think people should have the manners to ask before intruding upon anyone's time.

Honestly? That sounds utterly anarchic. I should be surprised our nation states have neglected to pass laws governing our behaviour, but I suppose given your attitude our little community is capable of policing each other.
I imagine that causes quite the drama.

Can't you lock the damn door? If you have a problem with people coming into your ""sanctuary"" then make sure they can't. And if they do anyways, then kick them out— kick their asses for their trouble, if you have to.
What's wrong with you? Handle your own problems, and stop whining in public.
no subject
Kick their backsides? I find it perfectly reasonable to dole out physical admonishment when the situation requires but in this instance I hardly think one can expect results with that approach.

But do you really think the poor me routine is going to work to keep your borders clean?
no subject
No, but again this address is no complaint. It is a cautionary deterrent. Or do I strike you as a man given to melodrama?

I'll remember to knock next time.

Thank you. It would be simple would everyone follow your example.

Have you considered a gate or door before your bridge?

Heavens above, of course you are here to invite yourself onto the guest list.
Fine. If you intend to plague my door at least bring a good bottle of vintage.
no subject
But! I'll take what I can get and I will introduce you to the finest sake that can pass through your lips.

Perhaps a sign would be useful.
[ He's kidding about the sign. Maybe. ]

That is a good suggestion. It would be better had I the walls to hang notice upon, but I suppose in the Horizon even defiance of natural philosophy is possible.
