I've only heard of jesters in stories, are they an actual thing where you're from?

[ There are royal houses in his world, but no jesters, although the term still is alive in tales. No emperors either, not really, although Jesper mostly keeps out of political things. Surviving in Ketterdam is politics all in itself, without needing other countries to actively get involved.
