to: everyone
Everyone. There has been nothing convenient about entertaining a few of our divine friends these past months. At this point, I believe some of them meddle in our lives on purpose. But you know how these beings are. Loving, violent and above all selfish. But their conduct should never be mistaken as good or bad.
Do you want the opinion of a professional? Itβs human.
Of course, when I examine our delusions about being divine, and remember my mortal origins, it motivates me to question where they come from.
Were they once human like us?
In any case, I would like to remind you that your memories will take you by surprise. Not today. Nor tomorrow. But someday you will recall more about who you were, and perhaps find you cannot stand it. And whether that happens today or tomorrow, take a seat and have a drink, and try not to take yourself too seriously.

NICE DAY! HOW YOU?

[ He is going to POOF into Horizon right then and there, where he can be found for the next few hours - perhaps either swimming or making lumpy sandcastles on his beach.
Feety fish numbering in the dozens scamper around in the surf. ]

Ah, plenty of friends, I see.
[But while certain things remain the same, others have begun to change. His reflection in the ocean - or any nearby pool of water - is certainly not quite the same. More like the man he was during that alternate reality earlier in the year.]

DUMB FRIENDS!
[ Nanaue laughs at this, and as if on cue two of the scrambling fish collide, their leggies waving in the air as they fall over. The manshark stands then, ambling over to where Crane stands. ]
SWIM?
no subject
Perhaps not. I loathe feeling athletic.
[Memories of school. Memories of swimming lessons. Memories of being ridiculed and held underwater. Besides, what can you learn from watching aquatics?]
Why not relax and enjoy a good chat?

[ Nanaue plops down in the sand in front of Crane, watching the feety fish struggle in the surf. He starts digging a hole with his mighty hands, which quickly becomes a small pit - and as the surf rushes toward them again it fills into a small, reflective pool. One of the fish falls in, and the others soon follow, happily swimming around. ]

But the creatures themselves - imaginary as they are - are innocent to some. Like the creature that made them, yes. But his mind barely registers that point.]
Have you been keeping up with your education?
[Learning to read. Learning to write. That interests him more. He was once a professor, after all.]

GOOD WRITE NOW!
[ And read!
Well, he writes and reads much better than when he first got here, at least. He used to pretend to be highly literate, now he doesn't seem to bother with his original lies. He pats at the mound of sand he's gathering. ]
NEW BOOK?
[ Is Crane writing anything new? Nanaue likes to support his friend's works... ]

[Work keeps him busy: all forms of it in all manner of ways. But the question earns a smile, regardless of outcome. For the acknowledgement of his intelligence is one reward. Being accepted as a bookish sort and not persecuted is another.]
Keep it to yourself, mind. A secret between friends?

FRIEND SECRET...
[ He won't tell anyone!
Except Baby. ]
no subject
Because why can he not experience the same freedom?]
Well, I already know what makes people scared. Why not share that knowledge and advise people how to keep safe?
[By acknowledging their fear and embracing it: all within a book for local people about why they fear the summoned and why they should heed their instincts.]
Because as you know for yourself, there is nothing more important than listening to one's gut.
[Their mind in other words.]
no subject
GUUUUT.
[ He gets it, bro.
But also, he gives Crane another curious look - ]
YOU BOOK... KEEP SAFE FROM SCARE? [ That sounds like what he was saying. ]
no subject
Well, some never know when to feel scared, do they? Or whether they should. I like to think I will be helping them along.
[Now his gaze becomes conspiratorial. One joke between two freaks.
Scared. Ha ha ha. Pffft.]
