Hello, sorry to intrude on all of you, I'll be as quick as I can. I know we're all still reeling from whatever that was, but I'm at my wits end and I could really use some... advice. And given the nature of this place, it's not a far stretch to imagine that I might not be the only one struggling right now.

It's just... I woke up with wings. And that might seem like a welcome change of pace but now none of my clothes fit, and I keep knocking things over with them because I forget that they're there when I'm focused. Or, even worse, when I'm not even aware of moving them -- I can't bear to think of the number of people I've accidentally hit with them and it's only been a few days. And surely someone else amongst our number has advice or experiences with unruly... appendages. For lack of a better word.

So if there's anyone who might be able to help or share how they've dealt with the unexpected gifts we've been granted, I'd sincerely appreciate it. And don't worry, I'll be sure to buy anyone a drink in exchange -- it's the least I can do. And thank you.

Oh, I'm Kaveh, by the way. I'm an architect back home and, well, this sort of stuff doesn't just happen where I'm from. Mostly. Or when it does it happens to other people, not me.

You mean to say full transformation is possible? Is there a limit to the powers we can be given?

That's reassuring all the same, though I can't deny that not thinking about them is the source of half of my problems at the moment.

Indeed, it's quite possible! Especially so, it seems, when you're attempting for it. I call them gifts from the Singularity -- though sometimes they hardly feel like gifts.

A limit remains to be seen. I'm sure there are mages here many times more powerful than me, and to be fair... I know stories of mages colliding entire worlds. It feels like magic is limited only by man's determination and creativity.

It may sound somewhat vulgar, but have you attempted tying them down for a spell? At least while your attention lay elsewhere. It may prevent further accident while you accustom yourself to them.

From what little I've been able to learn so far leads me to believe that comparing our circumstances to mages that are native to this land is an exercise in futility. And you've mages in your own world, or have you heard those stories from here? There's so much here that's so different from my world it's enough to make my head spin.

That's hardly vulgar. And just so happens to be good advice. I just can't work under these circumstances, and I'm already desperately trying to pull inspiration out from thin air on a bad day as it is.

Oh, more mages than you can shake a stick at at home, and most of them you want to beat them with said sticks. Luckily, for me, they're quite the same as the ones here. Easier to digest, I suppose.

If it's interfering with work, then that may be the best course for now. What sort of work is it you do? I know a little bit about circumstances needed for inspiration.

How delightfully novel. There's only a handful of mages back home, and they exist far from my home nation. If they're still alive, of course.

Ah, I'm an architect by trade, but can manage as an engineer in a pinch. I've been trying to get a portfolio together in order to break into the profession here. Not having access to my previous projects and blueprints is inconvenient, but I've been doing my best trying to read up on the styles here and the basics of engineering as they work in this world. It's strange, there are some similarities in how technology works in my world with how magic functions here in the Free Cities, but how they use it is vastly different. Our... 'magic' as it were, is not a substitute for technology.

From my experience, the less mages, the better. (No offence if you see this, Istredd, you're an exception!)

Interesting work, to be sure! I'm afraid I'm much more of a musician myself, but I've dabbled in architecture. If you've seen the Public Hall, that's one of mine (in part). Please tell me you've met Alucard. He would absolutely be so excited to have someone who understands his building specification talk. I mean, "excited" in that he would be slightly more animated than possible.
