Soooo this is weird and my first post on here hi.

Has anyone gone to the Singularity and tried to talk to it? Because I just did and I'm going to try to describe it but I'm not sure if this is relevant.

First of all oh boy does it have strong feelings! It threw a whole lot at me all at once, all negative, it's not having a good time.

I couldn't get like an exact thought or explanation, it was all emotions, but one thing that struck me is that it felt jealous and spiteful about something, but I have no idea what. The jealousy was clear but unspecific, so I don't know who to, or what about, I'm sorry. It's generally upset.

I don't think this is helpful because I couldn't convince it of anything or make it stop, but in case you were like 'hey is the Singularity going through something' the answer is 'yeah it's full of feels.'

I don't know if it would talk to everyone so I don't know that I'd advise it, but yeah. IDK.

The last time anything left presents in our spaces in the Horizon, it was during a very nasty episode that saw three particular gods manifest and meddle with our realities.

I believe that it is time that research be conducted to see if those so-called Harbingers have a fourth among their number or if there are other legends that connect. My gut says we are dealing with a trapped deity in those latchkeys, and if not, it is something close enough to the concept that we need to be worried. I don't know how much the Free Cities will have given that gods are...just not a thing here. Solvunn would be the best bet for such information. Thorne could have something.

I know that people reported a supernatural power was there during the incident in Ikorr. It could very easily be tied to the artifact and got loose when it was stolen. I think we all saw the image of the clown-ish figure right? So if he went into the Horizon, that would certainly piss me off if I was the Singularity. That's its spot.

I'm in Solvunn, I'll see if I can ask them if there's a clown god that could be related to an artifact. If it's an Ikorr thing they may not know, but I can ask.

If not a god, then a hero or villain associated with a particular artifact. Or changing reality, which the latchkeys supposedly allow one to do. I would also inquire if it might be associated with The Fool's arcana sign, just as a stab in the dark.

The note about jealousy is really the only reason I thought to connect the two. Nominally, I presume that ripping through realities is the large rock's general business.

Okay I went and asked the Elders, they directed me to a woman who specializes in the Cardinal gods, AKA the "new" gods. I gave her the description physically and about what we experienced in Ikorr, and she says it sounds like the Herald of Abberations, "Umbvagher." He is believed to indicate a coming turbulence and few worship him because of possibly a capricious nature.

.....oh good. Just a herald of it rather than the source. Very reassuring.

In all seriousness, thank you for asking. It isn't much, but it helps. I wish the were-folk had been more specific about this information.

It's interesting because you could argue that's exactly what is happening now. He appeared, and now the Singularity is having a temper tantrum and the weather is unusually changed. Pretty turbulent!

No problem. I wonder if they knew this was a possibility. If they did, wouldn't they have told us? Their general refusal to give details or good reasons is why I think they had so few supporters. Not that I'm saying destroying it would be better. Believe me, gods are very hard to kill. I doubt destroying an artifact would kill the god. Weaken at best.

But that is out of order according to the description you were given. Rather than predict, this is the direct cause. So far as any of us can tell.

I'm not sure. Perhaps it was a matter of trust. I just wish there had been time to talk properly. Given the circumstances though, I blame no one for emotions running high.

If any of the territories would know how to deal with killing or at least severely injuring a divinity, it'd be Solvunn.

Didn't the other heralds bring with them destruction based on their identities? They came, caused havoc, and left. That could be what's happening here.

Maybe the trust wasn't all about us. If they thought they were killing a god, they wouldn't want Solvunn knowing about it, that would ruin their relationship. Solvunn is mega serious about their gods, if there was even a whisper of an ally of theirs doing that, they'd probably cut them off.

True. But they also had much more free movement, whereas these latchkeys did not. I wonder if there is a binding involved.

Perhaps. Luna helped us last year without question when half of us were kidnapped. Expecting turnabout to be fair play is understandable. That said said, Solvunn and Luna share a common origin. There may be shades of that at play here too.

And that releasing the artifact, even if it was eventually put back, unbound the god? It's possible. Tricksters in mythology tend to be trapped whenever possible. Or it could be the Herald of Abberations felt that something was about to happen that could cause war so he showed up to watch and is not connected directly to the artifact at all.

Helping people who are kidnapped is the right thing to do, not something that needs to be repaid. It's not exactly a gracious act if you expect blind loyalty in return.

Maybe not unbound, but...reawakened. The latchkeys had not been used in centuries, so far as I understand the situation. By attempting to use them again, this particular Herald could have been jostled out of bed, so to speak, and the potential use was enough to reach out into the world more than they have in the past.

Cultural expectation and difference, I suspect. At any rate, this is the situation we're dealing with now.

That makes a lot of sense. It sounds like he's not as active as the usual gods too, with less worshippers. Maybe no one's summoned him in a long time and this felt like one. The question is if the Singularity is causing the winds or not. The god may only be partially responsible by upsetting the Singularity. I haven't been here long enough to know if the Singularity is capable of affecting this amount of world-wide change during a hissy fit.

If they were sincere about being friends with us, they'll get over it. Gods know my friends have forgiven me for much more.

A war hasn't broken out so they must have patched things up enough for that.

I'd say that all sounds about right, so far as objects with connections to legends go. As for the large rock at the center of this, I can't say. I don't remember it reacting this strongly before, but it could be the level of personal insult it's experiencing right now. The power of the thing is still generally unexplored.

...I would not assume that the matter is resolved. If there is one thing that is a universal constant in my experience, it is that the nightworld loves dramatics.

It would make sense to me with how it reacted to my question if this god in particular is pissing it off. From what I've heard of the gods being able to easily go into the Horizon themselves, maybe this one is just an asshole. The gods are like any other group of similar people. They have those relatives they just wish would go away and not show up at a family event.

Oh so are vamps and weres normal in your world? I do know vamps but I've never really come across wolves.

Rare, but not unheard of. I am a dhampir, so my perspective is also skewed.

In my experience, mostly. I've met some here who aren't so bad. I hear Thor was here before and he was nice too.
