They're using pictures and symbols to communicate--like Earth cellphone emojis for anyone that understands that. It's what people are thinking are runes.

They seem to have a short attention span so if you want to ask them something, get straight to the point.

Whether or not they're directly involved, they're just watching, or their power is being used, I don't know.
