[Viktor’s familiar, hurried script appears once again on its own. Without someone helping to facilitate the post, he is straight to the point, much as he was some months ago, announcing the location of the kidnapped Summoned.]

I’m well aware that most of us are occupied with the hostile creatures descending on various locations across the continent. However:

I’m more concerned with the nature of these phenomena and am currently improving the devices that the Academy will use to take measurements from the rifts. When I’m finished, the data will be more accurate than what the Cadens scientists could gather on their own. If there are similar efforts in the other factions, it is in our best interests to collaborate. I have theories of my own, as well.

[That’s, you know, the hint to pony up some intel.]

In the meantime, for those of you in the Free Cities who might be venturing to the rifts, I will need an escort. I would prefer to collect the readings myself, but I’m willing to part with one of the devices provided you are responsible with it. That may allow us to cover more ground.

As always, if you are in need of equipment or repairs, my workshop is open (unless I’m examining the rifts, in which case I’ll handle inquiries when I return).

I'm largely disinterested in the political jockeying of someone who imagines themselves an authority. I want progress--results. I do not need his permission to accomplish my goals, nor do I need to operate under his parameters.

Imagine yourself as a point on a graph with a three-way axis. That denotes where you are, in your own world. Imagine that, in addition to this, the entirety of the graph is moving forward in time. Four dimensions.

Now imagine that graph, and that timeline, exist among other graphs--worlds--each with their own timelines. Some are similar, almost identical to what you know. Others may be reflective of the other worlds you've encountered here. Either way, it is infinite.

At least someone has their priorities straight. It is true that we do not need Istredd's permission. What Istredd does not know will not hurt him.

So the relation between the concepts of space and time is that time can be treated as an additional dimensional axis? Are there additional dimensions?

Yes, I came to that conclusion when we attempted to unravel Fodlan's situations - the iterative exponentiation quickly became large enough to be unwieldy.

I didn't say I'd be keeping secrets. You seem to take more umbrage with him than I do.

I suppose you could consider a fifth dimension a way to act or travel outside of the other four. I'm not sure if you have teleportation magic where you're from, but that could be one example. Unwieldy as it is, there is no limit to the amount of possible worlds.

Yes. I am curious about whether the worlds the Singularity has access to is a bounded set or an infinite one. And what its relation is to the total subset of existent worlds.

No, I'm simply curious. I don't have to live in the castle with him, and I find it telling that you already seem exasperated.

I don't think anything is out of the realm of possibility at this point. The Singularity has great power, but it must have limits.

There being patterns would suggest so. Or at least reason, if not 'limits' per se.

The Singularity may also be a sentient being of its own accord. There's much about it we don't know.

That is an intriguing proposition. Is it likely?

As likely as anything else. I would caution, however, that it is dangerous to anthropomorphize, or otherwise assign human mortality to a magical entity.

Clearly. As few assumptions should be made as possible lest we find ourselves going down incorrect paths.
