[Viktor’s familiar, hurried script appears once again on its own. Without someone helping to facilitate the post, he is straight to the point, much as he was some months ago, announcing the location of the kidnapped Summoned.]

I’m well aware that most of us are occupied with the hostile creatures descending on various locations across the continent. However:

I’m more concerned with the nature of these phenomena and am currently improving the devices that the Academy will use to take measurements from the rifts. When I’m finished, the data will be more accurate than what the Cadens scientists could gather on their own. If there are similar efforts in the other factions, it is in our best interests to collaborate. I have theories of my own, as well.

[That’s, you know, the hint to pony up some intel.]

In the meantime, for those of you in the Free Cities who might be venturing to the rifts, I will need an escort. I would prefer to collect the readings myself, but I’m willing to part with one of the devices provided you are responsible with it. That may allow us to cover more ground.

As always, if you are in need of equipment or repairs, my workshop is open (unless I’m examining the rifts, in which case I’ll handle inquiries when I return).

There's a lot of talk of the gods, which is unsurprising...but if they have an idea of what they believe this is, they haven't shared it with us.

At the least they're very focused on trying to protect the commune and its people. Unlike Thorne or the Free Cities, Solvunn doesn't have any sort of standing army or militia to help. Even my village had a guard...

But anyway, they may have more to say when things have settled. Because they will settle.

I have another question. Are you able to sense the "aether" of a person? Is it a unique energy signature, or something else?

I am, though I'm not the best at it. It takes a bit of practice.

[ Or rather, actually paying attention when she normally just passively interacts with most ambient aether without much thinking or effort. ]

Everyone's aether is unique, yes. In feeling and color and density and whatnot. If you're more familiar with it, you're better at healing it.

Do you think there would be similarities in the aether of two people who share a world of origin?

Hm...I hadn't thought about that, but I don't see why not? The physical aether, at least, could be similar. I think the aether of your soul is kind of what it is regardless of where you end up, but...

What are you thinking?

I'm wondering if there's a way to determine the specific...magical signature of a given world. If it rubs off, so to speak, on the Summoned and creatures from it.

Hmmm...I can definitely see. Do you think it would different with these new creatures that have shown up from the ones that first appeared? Because I can get access very easily to a chocobo. Or one of the tomases.

Well. Ideally we'd get readings from as many creatures as we can, but I understand that the two you mentioned might be...more receptive.
