to: everyone.
( a couple nights spent sleepless staring at the stars in the green grass of a ditch in solvunn's primary settlement have left him wanting, curious, but a constant glitter of flashing correspondence beneath eyelids and in the sky has spelled out one thing very clearly: off-worlders can communicate amongst each other. near-instantaneously, in fact. how convenient.
eventually he's ready to try it, perched on a branch with his legs crossed and one finger weaving an invisible thread through the air in front of him. children passing by to pick up wayward apples for the coming rites must find him insane. )
Now, I did my own bit of research amongst the plucky citizens strolling about Solvunn, claiming us graces of God, and found quite the wealth of history beneath these streets. Enough to pen a couple more tomes worth, really, but I didn't fathom the discourse in this country would run so deep. It almost makes sense that they'd look outward for help at this point, to usher in a new era, but...
( research means spying, but. details. no one needs to know of days thus far spent just circling behind the shoulders of scholars in their libraries as a miniature. it wasn't all that exciting.
the next few sentences are quickly scribbled and without signature, running closely together as if to drive someone dizzy. there's a foreboding air to his text, whether on skin or parchment on wood, as if it's starting to fade the longer one stares. )
Anyhow, it left me curious, and so I'm posing a question to those more privy than me:
When and if the curtain rises, whose blood would you want spilled? Who deserves to "win", in your eyes?

[ Julie has concentrated extra hard to make that sentence bigger than the ones that follow. ]
Why are y'all new people so intent on taking part in a war? Even if that's where they're going, why do you care? It's not our fight.

Whoa, language! History tends to repeat itself. Well, that, and I'm not the type to turn a blind eye when I'm being forced to take the stage straight from the audience.
I'm innocently asking for your impressions here.
no subject
The only impression you need is that it's in our interest to not take any sides and to keep these idiots from killing all of us. Or do you just want to die in this shitty world?
no subject
Die here? Not exactly. I wished for some insight on the situation and wellβI got it in spades, I suppose. Right, then: don't get involved, and don't go asking dangerous questions.
I'll just stand here on the sidelines looking handsome when the inevitable happens.
no subject
And if you think the fighting's inevitable, then why the fuck are you egging it on with this shit?
no subject
I'd go straight to the source if I really wanted to escalate their conflict, you know. Not ask a bunch of outsiders how they felt. Knowledge helps one see challenges' with better, more far-reaching perspectives, and... while Solvunn's narrative is as one-sided as they come, being summoned here is something akin to asking me specifically to right this world's path. That's why I can't ignore it.
... You call it a rock, but I've yet to see it for myself.
( he isn't going to mention how most aren't wont to trust him yet. it's a work-in-progress for mr. fey-passing. )
no subject
Our opinion doesn't make a lick of difference unless you're planning to push the idiots to war over it, and you might as well set off a planet-wide atom bomb if that's what you're aiming for. I'm not keen to die over who gets to do what with a fucking slab of stone.
Get to the Horizon, you can walk up and touch the stupid thing. It's not that impressive. Just big.

I am hoping this place will not be so disappointing in that regard.

Conflict is the natural order of things. Warrior fights warrior, nation fights nation, Realm fights Realm. Why deny that instinct that calls to us all?
Better to embrace conflict as a source of power, and through victory, gain the strength to impose your will on the world and those weaker than you, for in the end, it is better to be the conqueror than the conquered.
no subject
You wanna be conquerer of Hell? Be my guest, but do the rest of us a favor and off yourself. Go fight the devil.

Hmm, now there's an interesting implication. Are we harbingers of doom to you, or something?
no subject
yes. some are
no subject
Surely they can't be all that bad, butβI'll bite. Who's got you wary?
no subject
but there are horrors here too
miss julie
miss Coraline
that stupid Jon what follows Coraline. he is not so bad, but stupid I think.
coraline is a nasty girl but it is that Julie. she stole my food and has broken my nose and now... well, all that has happened to us is her fault
no subject
Julie? Now, there's a name I recognize. As of this very announcement, in fact. All things considered, she was actually rather helpful. I'm sorry to hear, you're... having, ah, a rough time of things with her.
Just as well, dearest Eponine, you're lucky I don't have plans to hurt any of these people.
I would be a bit more hesitant when it comes to naming your apparent foes. You wouldn't want .
no subject
What should I care if you are to hurt people? Or why would you hurt them what I name if they ainβt nothing to you? They hurt me and I say let them hurt too.
Sir I think it is too late for your caution. Me I should have liked a friend but it is a shame when they make it clear they hate me
i can't believe i forgot two whole words WOW... "any regrets" bye
I suppose the saving grace of your encounter is that you lived to tell the tale.
( there's a significant pause before his next message full of unhearable comfort: )
I trust you learned how to defend yourself since? If not, I may be able to lend you a hand. Not that I'm much of a fighter, mind you, despite my earlier inquiry, but it wouldn't hurt to add a few paltry tricks to your repertoire.
Haha I thought he was just fed up of her!
Perhaps I have lived but I do not know if everyone is still breathing. The knife cut deep and hard and many times did her blood splash.
[Maybe it sounds almost poetic, but sheβs essentially confessing to at least attempted murder. Maybe he doesnβt notice?]
what tricks do you know Sir? Is it magic or a thiefβs tricks? My fingers are quick enough at that, you know?
no subject
She stirs it a few times, trying to disperse the letters, but the question posed has quite put her off her dinner. ]
Why is blood required for there to be "victory"? Why should anyone have to die?

It'd be a whole lot less heart wrenching if possible, but even the kindest are forced to commit atrocities in self-defense at times. Have you had an enjoyable peek through any of this land's historical accounts yet?
no subject
That doesn't mean we have to be the ones to continue enabling whatever cycle they have in mind, just because they brought us here without our consent.
no subject
It's true that one shouldn't be made to feel obliged to shoulder the burden of a history they didn't help forge, but for the sake of those who summoned me, who expected me to rally to their call, I need to be prepared to meet their expectations. To fight for a cause, or at least someone I've deemed worthy of my trust. It's my first time as a leading actor, after all.
Well, this is my own personal problem, and nothing you really need to be concerned with, but I do understand what you're getting at. Any dissension would be best solved without bloodshed.
( even if he doesn't honestly think it's possible to escape such violence in the long run, chin resting on one hand in pause. )

- Geralt
[ One day, he will not completely ignore a direct question, but today is not that day. ]
no subject
( he's waving a hand about dramatically whilst transmitting these words that float and sear. the children picking up apples beneath tread cautiously since they have... no idea what he's doing up there. what a weirdo. )
no subject
You can't keep count to seven?
[ Get back to him when you've been jailed underground for 12 weeks. ]
no subject
( aaand, he bounces back! the crowd goes wild. 'fairy' king oberon is STILL IN THE GAME... )
Geralt, was it? One can only watch so much tilling of the field before the mind starts to wander. No offense to the kind people of Solvunn, of course.
no subject
So they summoned you from another world and laying about is all they've asked of you.
no subject
Mmh, well, not exactly. Though it did take a couple mornings of tireless demands until they were a little more comfortable with me. The laying about came later.

[ And that's about all the information he's interested in. He's staying out of the rest of it. ]

I suppose I'm wont to play the fool, then. It's not often, or if ever, that I'm cast in such a major role. And, well... I mean, I might've made a liiittle mistake in framing this as a semi-declaration for war, but nothing ever gets done without a little theatrics, wouldn't you agree?
