He talked about that holiday with the bird and the eating and the sitting around and talking about the good times. Never really got that myself but I made due.

Anyway, after that is the big holiday for the people from my planet. The one where you put up a tree that makes a mess, decorate until you're the most gaudy house on the street and get presents.

But, getting the feeling that not everyone does that here. So, what do you do? If you do the gift giving holiday, what other traditions do you have?

If you don't, what do you do? If anything, I guess? Maybe you don't do squat and that's sad.

Bee tee dubs, if you're looking for a gift to give me, I could use a coat. It's cold in Farm City.

It is an Eorzean tradition and I am not a person of that region.

On the occasion I was in those lands, my duty took precedence.

I know people who talk like that and they're all really stiff and unfun. That's not you, right?

As Elidibus, it is my duty to guide my brethren to the best course of action, especially where it concerns our star.

I suspect you would have found me to be both stiff and 'unfun'. Even in my youth I was chastised for how much effort I put into my work. As time passed, I became even more driven by it.

[ Of course there's a whole host of other reasons to have found him both stiff and unfun from the perspective of most people and he knows it. But mentioning those things would be more trouble than it's worth. ]

So, is that a long way of telling me you've never had fun in your life?

No.

I have many fond memories of times long gone. And my friends and colleagues would oft encourage me to enjoy a day's respite.

So, what's a fun day for...you? And your people?

[ Ask? Still, after a few minutes there is a response. ]

Theatre, companionship. Many of our people enjoyed the exercise of debate. But they could be as varied as any society you might imagine.

I had... a colleague who journeyed our star and bring back stories of his discoveries. Though my duties rarely permitted, I was once fond of the idea of an adventure of my own.

When I speak of my star, I refer to the world I come from. I have never sought to travel beyond the moon's surface.

The celestial realm is known to our kind, however. I have witnessed visitors arrive from beyond my world.

Does your kind not have protection against the impact of such travel?

[ Clearly he's still considering the phrase 'face exploding'. ]

Oh oh oh, got it. When you say starts, I think of the ones up in the sky that are far, far away.

We got there, we need a ship, lots of equipment and prayer. Dunno but I think it's just better down here.

I understand. After all, it is possible your world would seem as a point of light in the sky from my own from that perspective.

[ After all, not all 'stars' in the sky are suns from a metaphorical point of view. Perhaps that is where the term comes from. ]

Even for our kind, your sentiment holds true. Though most of us were content with the beauty that lay around us, there was much beauty in the world itself.
