My name is Matthew Murdock and I'm wondering if anyone could help me or point me in the direction where I could help myself.

( this isn't something he really needs but he figures it'll give him an idea of both who all is here, what they can do, and who might answer a call for help from someone they think needs it. )

For those that don't know me, which is nearly everyone, I'm blind. To save you any questions, I've been that way since I was a kid, it doesn't hurt, you can see my eyes if you want, and no, I don't have a dog. Wish I had a dog, they're cute.

Anyway, when I showed up here, I came without walking cane. I've been using a branch because it's what's available but I'm hoping someone might recommend a place to either buy something similar or resources to make one.

( he doesn't need the cane, really, but it's good to have for a myriad of reasons. )

If nothing else, I can stick my hands out and go at that it that way but I'd rather not apologize for accidentally grabbing someone. Thanks in advance.

I'd appreciate any help you could give me. I'm still finding my way around this place. It's really...unfamiliar.

Free Cities. I'm pretty to this whole thing but it's been about a month so I figured I should try and get myself adjusted finally.

It ain't about the tan, man, it's about the gators. If you can wrestle a gator, you pass the Florida test.

The good news is we've got inventors coming out the wazoo here. Got a guy making me a tattoo gun as we speak. He does discounts for summoned, if you wanna hit him up. He goes by Jayce, he works at Lee's blacksmithy. I'd offer to show you the way right now, but I'm out of town on a hunt. Won't be back until tomorrow morning.

What happens if you lose a limb while wrestling a gator? Does that mean you get a pass for effort? Because I'm pretty sure that's what would happen to me.

I appreciate the name. I can probably find my way there. Can I ask what you're hunting or is that privileged information?

In Florida, if you lose a limb wrestling a gator they make you a senator.

Monsters. Cleaning out a nest up in the mountains this time, couple of leftover big ass not-dragon things. They're called Geralt Juniors.

( Which is to say, him and Geralt discovered them. Geralt refused to name them, so Dean took the liberty and now Geralt lives with his regrets. )

Guess I'll make losing a limb a priority somewhere else. Politics really isn't my game.

Not dragons. I have no idea what those are but I can picture them clearly enough without knowing. How much of a danger are they?

Shouldn't be any danger at all after we finish up. Only ever seen one pair within a couple weeks' ride from the city. We took it out a couple months ago, decided to circle back today to make sure there weren't any offspring left.

But, uh
If any more happen to turn up later on, I'd probably clock it at about twenty two gators worth of dangerous, if we're sticking with the Florida thing. They were eating merchant caravanners. Wasn't a fun party.

Yeah, that sounds pretty messy. And probably something I'd like to avoid. The only weapons I showed up with were my hands and my law degree and I doubt those things are really going to want to listen to me lecture them about the crimes they're committing.

That a common thing here? Animals eating people? Or this is a special thing?

I had a similar experience--not your exact situation, but I arrived here lacking necessary aids. The infirmary at the barracks gave me what they had on hand, but it was less-than-ideal.

Luckily, you'll find no shortage of craftsmen in Cadens. My partner are I are fabricators; we could certainly help, or point you in the direction of someone else, if you prefer.

It ain't that common in the city itself, I don't think I've seen anything slip past the guards. It's mostly on the roads further away where the wildlife start getting out of hand. Long as you don't go wandering around in the desert or try to ride out to Thorne you should be fine.

I'll admit that I didn't even think to ask at the infirmary since I wasn't injured. I thought I'd leave them to more serious things.

Fabricators? That's not a word I've heard before.

Yes, your partner mentioned fabricators? Is that a form of magic? I'd definitely want the help but call me curious. Still learning about this place.

It basically means we are manufacturers of inventive products. It leans more creative than typical blacksmithing. Back home we created advanced technology for our city. I made Viktor's cane so I have experience with them.

We're inventors. We make things. It's sort of a catch-all term.

No, so I'll want to make sure I do it right to your specifications. If you want to come in, you can give me an idea of what you're looking for. I'll work on it right away, you shouldn't have to use a branch.

Yeah, I'm half afraid I'm either going to break the branch or find a bird nesting in it sometime soon.

We have a workshop, yes. Jayce also freelances for a local blacksmith, and she allows us the use of her forge, so we're fairly well-equipped to take on all kinds of projects.
