[Crane says nothing. He observes the tiny creatures struggling to survive, his blank expression showing no emotion as they slip and slide into the pool. One thought comes to mind: to cause suffering and learn how his "friend" responds to pressure and stress. To see his limits and how he reacts to a challenge.

But the creatures themselves - imaginary as they are - are innocent to some. Like the creature that made them, yes. But his mind barely registers that point.]

[Learning to read. Learning to write. That interests him more. He was once a professor, after all.]
