To be honest with you, I only started doing it myself a couple of years ago. My brain's kind of fucked up, and I spent a lot of time questioning my own reality. It helped, though not really in the way my therapist intended.
I think it's a good idea anyway. It might help you feel a little more... grounded? It does for me.
