Hi, it's Nadine Cross with a couple of semi-regular announcements.

This first bit is mostly for the Free Cities, but just a reminder that Salves & Stitches in Cadens is here for all your medical needs. Care for Summoned is free of cost, but we don't say 'no' to donations. We offer basic medical care for injuries and common ailments, as well as a full apothecary stocked with all the usual and some things you can't find anywhere else.

Which brings me to the second part, which is for everybody. One of the things I offer that no one else does is cannabis. It's grown right here in my greenhouse, it's very potent, and yes magic is involved in growing it. And I have ways of getting it to Solvunn and Thorne, I have sales representatives in both places. We have traditional joints, candies, tonics, and topical salves. Just look for the 'Vegas Botanicals' logo. Or ask about who to talk to in your respective kingdom.

And Salves & Stitches is always hiring, from medical staff to sales.

Is there any chance I could get some more of it? I'd love to give it another shot. Especially if you've made any progress on it since then.

Oh, yeah, I think I can help you out there. Pretend I gave you a lecture about tobacco, I'm a med student but I'm also a casual smoker so I'm not actually going to lecture anybody about it.

It's no problem. It's a medical herb, just like any other I work with, and there's no reason not to provide it if I can.

And I'm providing a medicinal herb. I'm actually a licensed academy researcher, and my project is specifically developing new medicines combining cannabis and local medicinal herbs. Fully funded by the academy.

I even negotiated an alliance for the Free Cities with the Draconae of the Nether using my cannabis based medicines.

You're welcome to come help out. I know you're young, but I've seen what people your age can do. I was training a kid around your age, last year.

Thanks for not letting my age fool you. I started training when I was 10. If you need someone in the field and under fire, I'm one of your best bets. There's not much I haven't seen.

What happened to the kid you were training?

I can get you the real thing, I just need to have a chat with someone and figure out how quickly it can be grown and dried.

In the meantime there's always the Horizon.

I used to be a teacher, I know what young people are capable of. But what I mostly need are more people around who can set bones and stitch up wounds. We see a lot of that.

He's not here anymore. That happens sometimes.

That I can do easily. It's pretty much my job back home.
Say, if you're a teacher, would you be willing to help fill in the blanks on some subjects? I got a few years before I have to take the DSTOMP but....if I'm here and you're able to help, I'd super appreciate it.

I can do my best. Most of my medical education comes from here, so my knowledge and techniques might differ from an American doctor trained in the twentieth century.

But I can teach you all about medicines made from ingredients that only exist here. I started out here as an herbalist's apprentice and that's still a large part of my focus.

I'm just going into general practice when I graduate next year, but I like to keep up with everything as best I can.

I'll take anything. My medical education comes from a forcibly sober god and a 2000 year old centaur so, it's probably a little different too. Maybe we can both learn something from eachother.

Plants aren't typically what I'm good at but I'd still be interested in learning. Maybe we can find some substitutes for items I had back home. Since, in their infinite wisdom, the lovely people here abducted us without any of our equipment or supplies.

What made you want to go into medicine here?

I've been okay since, then. But it's good to know the resources are there.

I hadn't ever used cannabis before so I had to get a few lessons on it so I wouldn't choke myself to death.

Oh you'll fit right in at Salves & Stitches.

It's more than just plants! Herbalism here is pretty intense. And that's normal, I don't know if non-living matter can be summoned here. I don't think so.

A lot of different things, really. I had some experience already, emergencies happened back in my world. I started learning simple stuff on my own, just in case. The same thing sort of kept happening here. There were emergencies and I was there. I had a chance to get an apprenticeship with an herbalist before I moved to Cadens, and when I got here...I started at an apothecary but I wanted to do more. So I was able to get a spot at the Academy.

And I'm sure there's something to the fact that my world was wiped out by an incurable plague and now I'm a doctor with an emphasis on cure and treatment research.

I'm glad to hear it.

Oh yeah, smoking's not exactly intuitive. I pretty much had to re-learn, I hadn't smoked since college.

Well as long as there's an actual reason behind it, besides just making my life harder trying to find substitutes for things I already had. What makes you think I'll fit right in? And is that it? You don't need to see what you're getting? Get an example of my skills or anything?

You were put in a tough situation and wanted to make that situation better. For what it's worth, I'm sorry about your world. Can I ask about the plague?

Wanda was able to show me so I didn't choke on my own spit. I haven't really kept up with it but I still have some supplies in case.

I'm fine, but thanks. There's not much to tell really. Don't trust the US government is what it boils down to.

It was something cooked up by the military that got loose, and I'd honestly really rather not get into the details. Not here.

My partners and I have magic weed. It didn't exist here until we used magic to grow it. It started as part of my academy research, I have a grant to develop new pain killers and other medicines combining cannabis and local ingredients. I'm not allowed to make a profit off of the medicines I develop, but I AM allowed to just sell raw ingredients.

That's why we're the only people offering it.

Glad to hear I'm not alone in that. I was never much of a smoker for a few reasons.

But, it's good to know this is a good pain relief solution since this place does like to trip you up sometimes.
