Sometimes it's more subtle than you think. When summoned from my world were here, we were separated by a matter of days. Everything else seemed to be the same, though you're right there's no real way to tell, at least not without some kind of magical analysis. I'm working on that. The rifts--and the creatures emerging from them--could help.
