No unifying characteristics that I know of. No one is 'sent home' officially, if that's what you mean. If anyone's chosen to jump back in the well, I wouldn't know. People disappear. The castle gives vague details and blames the Singularity. It's not unbelievable, their domains disappear over time, as though their connection is lost.
2. More strange as in 'generally unheard of'. You could ask them about it, though. The only one we found was associated with the cultists, for context.
5. Oh. There's secluded parts of the gardens, or an empty class room. Nott is to the south, about a week away by horse - but no one travels that way. There's a portal from the castle. Watch your pockets while you're there, but the people are generally kind - just mistrustful of anyone from the castle.
