[ Geralt plans on borrowing Sam's room until one is offered. Even better. He follows the man up the stairs.

Were it anyone else, Geralt'd have likely kept this detail to himself. As far as he's concerned, what he dug up that day was already buried. Abandoned. That's how it should stay. He'd seen no signs of recent disturbances: no fresh blood, no rotting bodies. Just skeletal remains from at least a few years past, if not longer. It's no surprise the desert holds its secrets, and not every door needs to be opened.

But he trusts his companions will not make any rash decisions. Maybe. Hilda can be similarly convinced, at least. (He finds her more difficult to predict.)

He gives the sack a shake. The hand falls out: oddly elongated, with metal plating screwed to the whitened bones. There are four fingers, a thumb. The wrist bone bears grooves from the gnawing teeth marks of a fox or a small wolf.

Is it related to the mechanical lizard? Fuck if he knows. The Free Cities likes its metal creations. There's no reason the hand and the lizard had to have emerged from a single source. Still, the possibility remains. ]

I found this in the wastelands. Over a year ago.
